http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ition-at-Championship-strugglers-Ipswich.html This would be a great appointment, get him off the MoTD Sofa! If only Lawro could be recruited as assistant...
stranger thing have happened, but i reckon they are putting 2 + 2 and getting 5 because they are currently on the same carribean island!
i really don't think he's after the job at all. i think evans is using him as an advisor. they already stated that they want an experienced manager. mind you, i wouldn't want our club taking advice off shearer - every week he shows how little he knows on match of the day. smart money is still on curbishley
I was living in Bramfield then, used to cycle the eleven miles to Southwold most days not in school, I fancied a lass from Southwold, I don't remember seeing a raving, ranting Jock with a big red nose!
just had a gander at the betting markets warky. it seems to me like a two-horse race, between curishley and mccarthy. both are short prices and other than shearer you need to go down to around 10-1 for the next contender. both fit the criteria your owner requested. are they the right choices? not in my opinion. more of the same is what you'll get
quite interesting looking at who the other manager-less clubs are going for: bolton have appointed dougie freedman (up and coming) burnley seem intent on giving it to sean dyche (up and coming) crystal palace are looking at karl robinson (up and coming) while blackburn are after all manner of people, from sherwood to mckinlay (again though, up and coming) the only club going back in time to appoint a manager appear to be ipswich town.
I've got a whole load of slides from between 1913-1925 in Southwold. Was fairly sure I saw you in some of these photos. Sure you haven't got your dates wrong.
i like your thread on the ipswich board guru, about who your nightmare selection would be! from a norwich point of view, our nightmare appointment for ipswich would be someone good of course!! my nightmare, therefore, the guy you should go for is: either tisdale or robinson - same as who you want interestingly! funniest would definitely be smegson though i'm not one who thinks he'd do a bad job, in fact, i think he'd keep you up, but the football would be dire and you'd be miserable knowing you had to get him in in the first place
