Arrived back from Bishop Auckland to my flat in Belfast to find it trashed, our electricity had run out and the fridge/freezer had gone off leaving everything defrosted, inedible and covered in mold...Spent the whole day tidying, then went for a run...now can't be arsed to anything other than sit on the couch and watch telly, I do however need food...So...

Chinese or Indian...AND...What particular dish would you recommend, I'll eat pretty much anything and am won't necessarily shy away from something spicy (within reason though, got the charity run on monday and don't want to be Paula-Radcliffe-ing a Vindaloo along Great Victoria Street!)?

Indian any day of the week!

Jaipur. Minced lamb with tiger prawns, medium spiced with cumin and coriander. Vegetable rice (5 a day and all that), keema naan and saag aloo as a side dish.

    Washed down with Cobra Beer.

Japanese food is ****. It's just raw, tasteless fish and not much else.

Chinese and Indian are both amazing, but Indian gets the nod from me. <ok>

I love sushi! Can't go through Asda without picking up the little £2.50 boxes which are actually quite nice considering it's all prepackaged and about as authentically japanese as I am!

Best Sushi I ever had was in a shopping centre in Australia bizarely enough...They've got a massive Asian community and this stuff came in 4 inch rolls and fish that swimming about minutes before hand...Absolutely unreal, spent a fortune on it!

Whoop, you running the marathon then. Was going to myself but ankle got fecked so setting my sights on doing a few next year.

Normally I would recommend none as Indian is silly calories while Chinese is packed with MSGs. Your running the marathon so should be packing the carbs so I will vote Indian.

Sushi is the absolute ticket, Jesus if you can scrape a few pennies together take a lass to Zen in the centre and go for a Sushi platter and some cocktails. Unbelieveable!!!!

Love it. Used to have a great restaurant over here. With the chefs preparing everything in front of you. Juggling the knives, lobbing bits of food onto your plate from ten feet away and with inch perfect accuracy. :) It was a circus show and fantastic food to boot. Real shame it closed down. Best i've had was in Singapore though, some great suishi restaurants there. Like you said they would show you to a fish tank and ask you to pick the fish you were having for lunch.

Japanese food is terrible. For one reason or another, I spent some time with one of the Japanese gaffers in Warsaw, and he thought it would be a "treat" for him to take me for a Japanese meal. It was atrocious. I went out of the restaurant and had a kebab. I don't think he was amused by my culinary choice. Chinese for me every time like. Salt and pepper chicken. <ok>

Haha good advice mate. Unfortunately would cost more than a few pennies coz i'd have to spend £500 getting there first. But if in town i'll check it out :)
