Whilst I would have much preffered to see them already down I think we will be much to strong for the green army. Will be a pity in many ways as the players don't deserve to drop down but the club getting docked ten points has meant it was almost certain. Hope our fans don't start chanting "going down" at them as neither the team or fans deserve it.
Always felt that Plymouth was going to be the decider. NA has made us a much stronger team than we've been in the past. Can't see us not winning one of the next two, but pretty sure it will be on Monday.
I will celebrate along with my kids if we do the business on Monday and then hope that we can end our superb late run with a final victory at home to Walsall. To finish as runners-up with 92 points if we do, will be a tremendous achievement after the disappointing start to this campaign.
i am going to be sh***ing a brick come monday, i think this match should be televised, screw pompey vs norwich
Pompey vs Norwich is an evening KO, so it's not like the two games clash. With what is at stake for both clubs, I'm sure a lot of fans would have liked to see it on TV.
''Hope our fans don't start chanting "going down" at them as neither the team or fans deserve it. '' I completely disagree... for starters when they beat us at the start of the season they were chanting ''we are going up'' and saying ''you're **** and you know you are'' and ''premiership you are having a laugh'' amongst other things - they rubbed it in and gave us nothing but ****. It didn't turn out that way and yes they have hit administration - BUT, that is no excuse to start being nice. I also remember them singing ''going down'' when we were struggling in the Championship and singing about us going out of business. With all this considered I am going to Plymouth on Monday with ã20 notes to wave at them, and will chant ''you are going down'' and will relish every second of it - and we should all do this, why? because after all the **** they have given us and the trouble they have caused us, we are finally going to rid this division of Argyle, and consolidate promotion. We should go there and ridicule them, on and off the pitch.
Two wrongs don't make a right. The fans haven't done anything wrong. They didn't lead their club down the drain and into administration and a 10 point deduction. Without it, they would be safe. Having suffered a similar fate ourselves, I cannot believe any Saints fan cannot sympathise with their situation and wish them the best of luck.
I'm sure we've all sung things at other teams in the past. We've been in the position of Plymouth. It's not the fans' fault. On such a happy time for us (if we win), we should concentrate on our joy, not their misery.
I don't have a problem with the singing but waving ã20 notes is a step too far. Is your memory so poor that you forget how much it hurts to fear for the very existance of your club? Remember, many of us didn't even want our fishy friends to suffer that fate, so why Plymouth? Don't lower yourself to the level of a few of their supporters or tar all of them with that brush. Now we are safe, a whipround for them would raise us far above that petty level. For me, their relegation on Monday is a mere by product of our promotion. 0-2 Saints, Lambert and Lallana COYS
Both before and after the Plymouth game I was drinking with some of their supporters/fans and they were just the same as us. They had just been relegated and were surprised by their win at ours as much as we were. Friendly and talking about their hopes with no nasty edge. I can not wish them ill or their players just because someone at the top spent too much.
So plenty of compassion from you then.........you just like kicking people when they are down. There is no need to have a go at them off the pitch.....this is a football match not a bloody war!!! Banter is one thing but before and after the game that is not the time for your demonstration of dislike. Just keep things to the football pitch, let the football do the talking. How are you likely to feel if by a miracle they do actually win. What will you do then, I guess it will embitter you even more. So sad to get so worked up over a football match and a football team!!
ManU fans sang at us that they were coming to send us down and I've had to have the story repeated to me regularly by a plastic Manc. If ManU face administration and relegation, can I taunt them please? Well, we can all dream, can't we?
We lived with kind of taunt for years Fran..... I can remember one particular year when we actually sang it to each other......and yes both were relegated. Saints were the first team to be relegated under the three up three down scenario the mighty Man u down there below us also relegated. (When the premier was known as div 1) So the taunts at the game, is fair game. As for administration well never say never Fran.....never is a ruddy long time and at a guess, it could even happen to the almighty Man u !!
Maybe I am a bit old fashioned but I just thought it would be nicer to cheer 'going up' rather than anything else. Mind you when we make it to Fratton Park I will be praying for the chance to sing 4-1,4-1 4-1 4-1. Or better if we were lucky.
It is disapointing to see Plymouth in dire straits, but the ten points has made it difficult for them, but no one showed much concern when we had the same punishment dished out, unfairly in my mind not even in the same year or League in which it was earned. What goes around comes around, we must be sympathetic, but professional too, if we are to be promoted, just for once compassion must go out of the window, no room for it in our building.
Whilst I have mooted for us to cheer our lads instead of crowing at the fallen, I still want us to score a hatfull and show no mercy during the game. Another six for would increase the likelehood that the Terriers would be so deflated for Saturday that they take a day off.
Let's hope we have plenty of reason to celebrate. As far as the chanting is concerned, I hope that it is positive. If their fans sing and support as they should, then that should be acknowledged. I won't be there today, but I remember the good feelings generated at the Southend game, where we applauded their fans. That's the sort of moment I love in football. Obviously, if they bugger of in droves and don't support their team, then I daresay we will point it out, but bear in mind that without the points deduction, they wouldn't be down there.
