My alternitive was to use the new guy in conjuction with Ben, problem is he hasnt been 100% fit, hopefully he is approaching that level now having played for the reserves the other day.
I would not be too woried about using him against the likes of city, he is a seasones pro and has plenty of champions league experience, experience being the operative word here!! Ben daives has done well considering he has been dropped in at the deep end, but for me he needs a few games where he can take stock of what he has learned,he needs to be coaxed through his education, sometimes less is more, we could destroy his confidence if he gets a tanking at City.

Im sure Laudrup is well aware and he knows more than me, but he also knows when its time to play seasoned pro's. Ben has had a big chance and taken it and there is no doubt Laudrup rates this boy highly, he will never pressure Taylor for his position if Taylor comes back fit, but i do see him as a future centre half for us,his height has probably given him the edge over other young players and thats probably why Laudrup has him there, notice how the height of the team has been a key issue with the new players signed ??

I dont want to make it sound like i dont rate the player, thats not the case, but if you look at his lapses they are costly or give a clear cut chance to the oppostion, yes he is young, yes we have injury problems but he needs to learn fast and stay alart to players running off him

Think that having Ben in for this one, is going to be a big gamble, the boy is very much on a learning curve, and he could get well and truly mulled up there! I too think he should sit this one out..............<ok>

What better way to develop BD than give him a start at the home of the PL Champions? He is playing well - long may it continue .

Totaly agree lads just give young Ben a break to be fare who have we played nobody this is realy our 1st of 4 hard games on the trot for us and city are up there ok they lost last nt ,so we could get a back lash from them, as we say Ben is going to be a great fullback, so lets see what Tiendelli can do for us.

There is no way ML is going to drop Ben Davies for this one, he needs to play as much as possible at this stage in his career - he is learning fast. Tiendali is there as cover in case he gets injured or suspended, that's all.

The one and only indeed! No I chose the name to remind me of good times ...

    Tony Tony Millington
    Tony Millington

That was what we used to sing - we were in the old 3rd division then and Tony was one of the supporters' favourites. Len Allchurch was still playing at that time - he must have been in his mid 30's I guess but still one of our best players.

Hope the real Tony doesn't mind, if it means he gets a mention from time to time I guess he won't.

yes of course Ben should play. If he is good enough to play in other games then he deserves his chance against the big teams....why deny the boy because of his age and lack of experience, Can you imagine how his confidence will be shattered because of it....He has done well so far and deserves a starting place. If he should struggle which i dont think he will then sub him, but dont deny the lad the biggest game of his life if he has not done anything wrong in past games......

So if Taylor was to come back tomorrow Dai, Ben's confidence would fall apart ? Don't think so! I'm only interested in a positive result, and Ben Davies could well get murdered on Saturday, one game on the bench wont hurt him one little bit, besides we brought in Dwight Tiendelli as direct cover for Taylor, and it's about time he made his debut, Tiendalli has the experience that we need at this level, Williams is having to cover for Davies inexperience every game, so makes sense to get Tiendalli out for this one!................<ok>

We have three games in seven days. So Ben will probably be given a break in one of those three matches - at least

Ben is coming along just fine and is a terrific addition to our squad. However, at his age what he does lack is the hardness and stamina that comes with age.

As Yankee says, it would make sense for Laudrup to rest him for at least one of the next three games and give Tiendalli a chance to stake his claim. Mind you, if young Ben shows good form in each game he plays, it would be disruptive to him and the team to rest him. I trust ML to make the right decision here. He is close to the players and will know how things sit with Ben.

playing three close games will apply to all the players to rest them, personally i dont believe in resting players if they are playing good and im afraid dragon Taylor will have to fight for his place like everyone else when he comes back next season. we will probably bring in a couple of needed defenders in January anyway so a place for Taylor will be far from automatic that's for sure...

So Ajax did quitea job on Manchester City then, will this have any effect on the game at the weekend ? Will they want to run riot and get the defeat out of their system, will they feel a bit anxious due to the setback ? will our boys feel it's a good chance to have a right go at them ?

we play them to our strengths and dont change the way we play for anyone. if they beat us they beat us .....Football throw up some unexpected results and man city are just another club like all the rest of the premiership. they may be favorites because they are at home but nothing to fear if you stick to what we do best....

Well I for one would be more than happy if ML completely changed the style of play saturday and we got a result. If that's not to your liking, go and support liverpool and the numpty in charge there! <ok>

I think Dai is right. We play our style, stay true to ourselves; this maximizes the opportunity our players have to excel. Citeh will have faced to footballing sides in 3 days that play different styles. They are the team with the biggest adjustments to makenot us, not the least of which is any mental hangover from the loss. Since Citeh could play any number of permutations of their squad and still lay claim to be competitive, it's foolish to predict who they play, and if we don't know who they will play we can't possibly make adjustments. They only thing you can do is be yourself - be smart and aware, but be yourself.
