Before I start ranting, I want to make it clear that if anyone does something for a Charity and makes money for it then good luck to them - provided that they don't then use that as an excuse to sexually asault children of course but that's by the by.

Cancer Research has a very high profile annual national event for women and a high profile annual event for men. The women's event, the Race for Life in aid of breast cancer, involves a 5 km run / walk. Over recent years it has mushroomed and women of all ages and levels of fitness take part raising millions of pounds for a very important cause. The ones who are less fit may even train for it hence improving their general well being. The only possible downside of thi is if you have an event in an area of high obesity as it can play havoc with the pavements and drain system - last year one suburb of Birmingham went on earthqake alert before someone realised what was actually going on.

Next week sees the launch of the mens event - Movember. Men are asked to grow a moustach through the whole month to raise money for testicular cancer. Yes - seriously. So all the women are going out and walking 5 Km and the blokes just don't shave for 30 days. And people bloody pay them for it. Turn on Match of the day in 3 weeks time and it will look like a Village People convention. It's getting to the stage where it will be like the Poppy campaign and clean shaven men will be spat at in the street for hoping people die of cancer.

Come on Cancer research -I'm all for rasing money but can't we have something a bit more taxing and a little less gay?

Oh and if you are going to do it then good luck - i'm not really against the people who take part so much as the campaign itself.

I've been doing it for 3 years and do it for charity every year. I have a charity account but none of you will be linked as I don't want my pics labelled on this site <ok>

I shan't be taking part as I have an inability to grow a decent looking tash. Tried a goatee beard back in the day and it wasn't very good. I keep my face clean shaved, just like my balls.

I fail to see how growing a moustache will fend off cancer to be honest.
