Extremely good year? He's got some bloody cheek. Shows they don't care about what happens on the field as long as the money comes in.
Arsene: "We anticipated that we might lose Van Persie... that's why we brought in Podolski". translation , i couldnt keep our ferrari , but its ok , i bought a volvo., in fact TWO volvos , gotta be as good innit ?
As pointed out before, not sure why Wenger is even making the RVP/Podolski link. He is not playing the guy as a CF, so why use the two in the same sentence?
Yet it would have been so different if we'd actually turned up yesterday. Fickle, but a necessary expulsion of hot air. Will they really have listened? Like ****...
its just flannel , he thinks we are all stupid. RVP scores when he likes. Now he scores for someone else when he likes and we have a strike force that couldnt score in a brothel . but of course its been an " extremely good year " .
Ok, for those getting your knickers in a twist over Wenger. 1) he is completely correct to make the Podolski RVP link. He bought Podolski and Giroud so we had options if RVP went. Podolski started in the middle, Giroud has played there and so has Gervinho. The fact he has now settled on Podolski playing out wide and prefers other players centrally does not mean it wasn't a consideration when bringing him into the club. I think its very unfair to try and use this as a reason to get annoyed with Wenger - he is completely right in what he is saying. 2) As far as bonuses etc... it really doesn't matter what bonuses they are getting paid. Actually financially it was a very good year. There was an article posted on this forum a few days ago which highlighted the successes of the board and the strong position we are finding ourselves in now due to there actions. It is perfectly normal to have large bonus payouts to directors of large business, especially when things are heading in the direction they wish. Winning is not the sole messure of the board of directors success. The money increase from winning a trophy and the money increase from renegotiating a deal for example may be very different. I think its unfair as fans to ignore the good work that has bene done on the busienss side of our club just because we are trophyless for a while. I genuinly believe we are entering a period where we will be able to compete on a much closer level to those clubs above us currently. Also the amount there bonuses are, is not significant enough for us to be up in arms about it - there bonus isnt going to fund a £25mil player on 100k a week. The fact is we are in a strong financial position where if we need to buy a player our directors do not have to lose there bonuses or wages to cover it. To be honest i find it childish and ridiculous to whine abotu how much they are getting paid. But there always seems to be some fool who is angry at how much footballers earn and companies earn and those big bad bankers etc etc..... 3) I like that Wenger has said leave it until the end of the season and then he is hapy to meet with the supporters etc... He is the man at the club who says the correct things at the right times. 4) I completely agree with Wenger 100% - the third most important thing after winning the league or the CL is to qualify for the CL. Anyone who doesn't realise this is very naive to how the sport works and how money works. Missing out on the CL for even a couple of years could have an aweful effect on the club. Whine about trophies all you like but if we want to even stay within touching distance of the City and Chelseas of this world we must remain in the CL at the top table of football. Overall as with every event and every interview and everything about our club - there are far too many whining fans getting all pissed off and lookign for reasons to get angry with anyone at the club. Personally i don't see much wrong with what has been said. The dividends comment may at first see liek a worry, as so far no money is taken out the club in dividends which proves the owners are not milking the club for cash. I agree though that it is there deciion and a busienss decision. They will just have to deal with the consequences of that decision should they choose to make it.
I remember Wenger saying that Poldi and Giroud were not RVP replacements. Lying, clueless ****. I've had enough of this shower of incompetent ****s. PHW is a completely out of touch, senile old prick. It's clear that he doesn't give a flying **** about the fans or the football and considers these meetings an annoying inconvenience he has to endure from time to time in between his port, Stilton and cigar sessions at his favourite country club. Silent Stan is obviously only interested in profits and would be quite happy if we stayed in this mediocre never never land for the next twenty years as long as we turned a healthy profit. And don't get me started on that slimy, effeminate bellend Gazidas. The reason he got his bonus was dutifully kissing the arses of his feudal masters and jerking off the fans with utter, utter bullshit. It's time for protest.
What matters most to me is what happens on the pitch. You don't sound like a football supporter speaking, you sound like Gazidas mate.
Calm down...calm down. Calling Wenger a ****? I mean, really? After all he has done for us. The others, well I could not care less. But Wenger has become one of us. Yes, he has made mistakes but he also stood by us when bigger and richer clubs came calling, so least we could do is not abuse the guy. He is also our most successful manager ever, least we forgot.
I love football, i watch every Arsenal game, i watch alot of football when Arsenal are not playing - i quite like foreign football particularly in the dutch league. I play football on a regular basis and talk about it loads when out with mates. I also work for a living and live in the real world where money talks and have an understanding of how business works. So yes, i can recognise how money influences what happens on the pitch. I can be impressed by good business principles and successful deals or sales of assets. That doesn't mean i don't want success on the pitch. But it means i recognise that if that off the field success fails then we will be another Liverpool. Your very short sighted if you dont appreciate success off the field as well as on it.
And do feel free to highlight exactly which part of my post you disagree with. You sound to me like a typical annoyed football fan who doesn't know too much about how things actually works but is angry when he doesnt get to boast to his mates down the pub about how good his team are.
"You don't sound like a football supporter speaking, you sound like Gazidas mate." "You sound to me like a typical annoyed football fan who doesn't know too much about how things actually works but is angry when he doesnt get to boast to his mates down the pub about how good his team are." sounds like tit for tat. i like that afcftw has put his opinion out there and given reasons for it. if you disagree, do likewise. or pick apart his opinion with reasoned arguments. if you can't, perhaps it's time to reevaluate your own opinion.
Yes. Regularly. To be fair, if you had read through the thread you would see that he said i sound like Gazidis with the intention of that being an insult, thus i have told him what i think he sounds like
