The modern all seater identikit bowl seems to be replacing what's left of the old football grounds around the UK. Since the Taylor report introduced all seater stadiums for the top division, it meant that many of the old grounds were no longer able to accommodate the new regulations and many clubs decided to start again a build new stadiums. The old grounds were demolished and with them went decades of history and memories.

This is the nostalgia thread for all those old grounds that have now become supermarkets, housing complexes and car parks. RIP

The Old Den - Possibly the most dangerous ground to go to.

The Den was a horrible place to go. Millwall fans in the 80's had a bad rep and they lived up to it. I used to live about 5 miles from the Den and always gave the place a wide berth on match days (except when Arsenal were playing there)

Hitchin aren't allowed to develope their facilities, the local charitable trust who own the ground won't let them do it.
Probably the most antiquated ground in England:

Totally agree, I'd have a mucky old terrace over some dreary sparkling plastic dish-arena any day of the week.

BTW anyone else who finds themselves shrinking away from these stadia and modern football in general might want to visit www.antimodernfootball.proboards.com, good set of lads and some decent discussion which isn't confined to the usual standard-thinking restraints.

La Bombonera (Boca's stadium) is epic. On side is pretty much vertical to fit within the boundaries of the premises.

the old den was a proper ****-hole, and who's idead was it to build the Floodlights in the middle of the terracing? I remember going to the WestHam Millwall matches and getting stuck behind one once, what a ****ing waste of money, I had to hope for corners as that was about the only thing i could see.
