Paul Jewell has left his job as manager of Ipswich Town with the club bottom of the Championship. Jewell, 48, has parted "by mutual consent" after Tuesday's loss to Derby - his 11th straight game without a win. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20048196
Had to happen after his comments at the weekend. He isn't a very good manager and they aren't a very good team, despite always managing to attract decent players from other not very good teams.
Yeah, and after playing us he pretty much said "Yeah you're right, I'm crap and you're better off without me."
No surprise this one. Just how long it took him to go. I would not be surprised to see Paul Jewell end up @ either Crystal Palace or just maybe Blackburn Rovers. Ipswich look like a sinking ship with No quality and the 8 loans players who really are past there best. imo.
I'd hardly say Massimo Luongo, Stephen Henderson and Bilel Mohsni are past their best at 20 ,24 and 25 respectively and I'd happily take DJ Campbell on loan as well. I agree that he won't get another job anytime soon, although there is an opportunity in Bahrain if he fancies the challenge...
It took him three years to get a job when he left Derby and he's right royally ****ed it up at Ipswich, you don't seriously think that Blackburn or Palace might want him? Phil Parkinson's got more chance of getting one of those gigs.
Glad that you think so. I would not want any of them at Hull City. Ipswich Town are bottom of the league for a reason. Jewell is damaged goods yes. He may also want to take a break from the game. But CP dont have much money to get anyone good and Jewell is a cheap option. As for Blackburn nothing would surprise me with that club. Any owner that can sack Sam Allardyce when in a comfy PL place cannot be ruled out of taking someone like Paul Jewell on. ffs, they appointed Steve Kean. Nothing that happens in football should surprise anyone anymore.
They're fourth in the Championship, have a decent squad and they're based in London. They'll have no trouble getting a decent manager, whatever wage package they're offering.
Apparently Evans and Clegg began thinking about possible replacements for Jewell several weeks ago. They now have the shortlist down to 34
To be honest, I don't think I'm in with much of a shout. I haven't played football manager since 1989. Mind you, that was about the time Jewell last had some success, so you never know
