Rumours Downing doesnt even start in the back up 11 2moro v Anzhi, apparent front 4 of Assaidi,Yesil,Cole,Pacheco, if thats true Downing really is a goner in Jan.

Also heard Shelvey will be saved for Sunday, maybe Sahin starting 2moro

Also heard BR will start Agger and Coates at CB together,BR wants to see them play together

A bit more pre-match reading for you to get stuck into!

The BBC have done a piece on our Russian opponents and their recent history since being taken over and spending some serious money on a wide variety of players.

    Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20050350

    A good read.

I think it will be certainly be difficult fielding a second strength team against a team who are top of their league winning 9 and losing just once. I think it might be a case of boys against men if too many youngsters play.

Haha, you know what I mean though, The likes of Eto'o have the experience to make a huge difference in games like this.

Would be very happy if all that came true. Shelvey would probably cope with the fast pace of a merseyside derby better than the turk (as long as he avoids a similar incident to his red card vs Utd) and I would like to see Coates and Dagger at the back. Plus a youngster up front and Suarez nowhere near the squad would be great

<ok> Yeah, I'll be worried about Eto'o. If our defenders keep him quiet we should do okay. It's a big if, admittedly, but I think we have the midfield to keep them occupied. I'm concerned about them hitting us on the break, though. I've predicted a draw as it's at Anfield, but I honestly have no idea how we're going to do tomorrow. I'm also waiting to see how we do in euro before I predict our result against Everton -- which I'd much prefer us to do well in TBH! Hopefully, we can garner a little europa courage with a win, or even a battling draw.

If you don't already know, it's a strong team tonight. My reporter mate tells me that both Gerrard and Suarez are starting <ok>

If that is true then Brendan seems to be mental. Suarez needs a rest, no matter how much he wants to play.

We'll see, but my mate is now actually quite close (platonically!) with BR, so he's normally right. I agree with you as Suarez picked up a knock v Reading and he'd just got back from a 13,000 mile round trip <yikes>

it'll be interesting to see what this crowd brings and plays so we see if they are interested. in theory they have the points on the baord andthe round trip t tehir palce means they must be confident of home results to get through. they might not be too bothered coming here... who knows?

if we pick a strong team i'll be happy once we win. at least we gave it a go yeah? if this club stops having a go we're done for.... and no playing a younger team earleir is not stopping having a go as it was early on... this is must win for qualification.

And that is why he's going to play a 'strong team', whatever that is.

well i have been paying attention and what your said in the past few weeks looks to be either inspired guess work OR taken on its face a inside track.

If we beleive all said here

jones but with reina on a fitenss test
    wisdom coates agger robinson/enrique/johnson
    allen sahin
    gerrard
    cole suarez assaidi

yesil on the bench with sterling, suso, henderson, carragher, one of the full backs not picked.

This is what scares me/excites me about seeing Shelvey play in a derby. He definitely has the intensity and desire to win games, but in this day and age having too much of that can get you sent off. (even though, I still don't think his tackle against Utd was a red.)

not so sure shevely is mobile enough to really play the game we are hoping for. getting some goals no question but i just wonder at the minue about him getting around the pitch. if sahin is dropped for everton then i'd want to see shevley sit more and play like he did in the preseason where he did impress.

I prefer him playing behind the striker. He actually has the desire to gamble on getting into the box.
