It's because we give insane wages to reserve players, thus making them harder to sell when it turns out they're ****, and meaning we can't pay our stars the money they want, so we sell them.

I made my point above about the Adebayor deal, as he is on 80 grand a week and had to accept our wage budget, with city playing the rest of his wages to get him off the book.

In relation to Arsenal, they don't spend as much on transfer fees ourselves, yet their wage outcome is higher.

That isn't a dig at the goons, but one of the reasons we can't compete is because of our wage budget.

So your wage cap is 80k? Seems reasonable.

Yeah it keeps the club running as a good business, but how can we compete with chelsea, man utd and man city when we have a wage cap? there seems to be this impression tottenham are a mega rich club which throw cash at players! .....this is why redknapp was great for us, as he got us punching above our weight.

While you have Wenger who has been a genius (not so much these days).

Well considering we lost Modric & VDV while the goons lost RVP & Song then it will be fairly much the same when you look at the players both clubs signed.

edit, sorry thats me looking at another table about this season as our wages & goons wages will be fairly much the same as last year.

You're probably right, but Arsenal have been getting champions league money for as long as I can remember, they probably spend less on wages as a percentage of their turnover.

Yeah fair point, ourselves and arsenal are quite similar in that we try to run the club well so if you look at the overall picture then it is a different view.

The point about wages, is what stops clubs competing for certain players.

A club like ourselves can only buy a player like Modric/Berbatov when he is up and coming or not that well known, then they outgrow our club, want higher wages and go and win trophies with a man utd or madrid.

Luckily city were desperate to get rid of Adebayor and had to pay part of his wages, otherwise we couldn't sign him, even for 5 million!

Thats the problem with teams like Citeh and the spanish giants. They sign up too many good players, and can't get rid of them to teams like us and you, because of the wages they pay them, whilst luring our stars away with the promise of untold riches. Because of wages issues, you lost Modric (and Bale soon probably), we lost Song, Na$ri and Judas.

You shouldn't hold such grudges against players who leave you. They don't owe you anything.

We stick by them through injury/poor form/legal troubles, and they bugger off like the ungrateful twats we knew they were, just didn't want to mention it.

Well it makes it sweeter for teams like Ajax and Dortmund who have shown City that they aren't going to buy their way to European success.

Modric is sitting on the Bench at Madrid, he would rather sit there, collect 120 plus grand a week, play a few games, collect trophies and not feel part of the team, just so he can say "I played for real madrid as a sub"!

You should know from the start that they're only after personal glory. Unless they're childhood fans of the club, it's silly to expect anything more of them.

In his eight year spell at the club he had two seasons that were not injury hit. The club and Wenger stood by him when he was getting injured for Holland. He did not question the club and Wenger then, did he?
