Sadly if someone had told me Charlton and Sheff were both going to score a single goal against us I would have believed we would win both games by a 3-1 or 2-1 scoreline.

Time for a change. Becchio needs dropping. Id move Varney up front to see if he actually plays to his potential in his preferred role. Stop putting round pegs in square holes. If that doesnt work then fair enough but its worth a shot. As is Halls pace and directness out wide

Hall's pace out wide I can agree with, but dropping Becchio for Varney? I think not

When pardew signed varney for Charlton he said he'd build his team around him.... We got relegated that says all you need to know about varney

Are you sure you are not confusing Varney with someone else?
He hasn't been any good since he was in On the buses.

While its a silly idea to play Varney ever. I'd still drop Becchio, I'd even be inclined to play bloody Gray

As **** as Varney is, I agree when he went up front he at least won headers, Becchio was awful

Exactly. Varney looked much better at winning headers than becchio. Didnt get caught under the flight and always attacked the ball with a clean decent leap and won every ball. Varney is just being made a scape goat now and its ridiculous. Yes he has been poor but becchio has been just as bad if not worse (goals aside). Varney up front could have probably scored the tap ins and penalties becchio has. Hes also quicker and has better movement. Im certainly no Varney lover but he does offer the team alot more than becchio has recently. Prepared for abuse now though...

Easy guys. Stop & have a think. Reg was on the wing winning headers with the little guys. Becchio had 2 guys that absolutely towered over him to contend with. BOTH covered him. He didn't have a hope in hell with a high ball. They BOTH smashed into his back regularly when he was in the air. Don't think the ref penalised them once for doing it.

Forget the Charlton game, every game Becchio hasn't been doing enough. Varney isn't the answer imo just because he is SO poor with the ball at his feet.
