Yeah probs me you're thinking about who hates Pritchard, I don't think he's anything special and I don't rate him, however if he performs like he supposedly did yesterday (having not watched it) then I will happily eat my words and not make him go back to Non-league But he played at CM rather then RM I think, so surely that means that when I've moaned that he's a poor player at RM I should be let off because I only moan when he plays at RM
I think Eddie was jokingly referring to himself, Ted. You're not the only one who has been singling out Pritchard, others have said he's too light weight etc. Reminds me a bit of the criticism Solly used to get!
Pritchard in a 4 man midfield is too suspect. Gets caught out of position far too much. In a 5 man midfield it allows the extra body to cover him whilst he can go around doing what he does best - which is being a nuisance and hassling players off the ball. Well thats how I see him anyway.
Maybe it depends who the 4-man midfield are. For me Wilson has solved the wide right problem, terrific energy, good at helping out in defense, always available and puts over a decent cross, what more could you want? Dervite may have solved the defensive mid problem but let's wait and see. Kerkar is the best we've got on the left and who would be the 4th?
I'm a Pritchard fan love fact he came through non league is educated a nice bloke too and well chuffed he was top notch yesterday
Agreed. I've missed all this getting caught out of position. What I see is terrific energy and appetite which has been missing from our CM.
We wanted players who would run through walls for this club, and he's definitely one - the treatment he took at Wednesday last season was appalling, but he just kept on going.
I'm a Pritchard fan to the extent that he is a great guy and plays like a Duracell bunny. He does however have his limitations but in a midfield full of limited players in one way or another maybe his energy is the least bad option. I no longer have faith in Hollands or Jacko and I doubt we'll see Hughesy in a charlton shirt again. Kerkar is very skilful in a "I don't know what I'm going to do either" sort of way but has no pace and little end product. I am wondering whether Green on the left could be a solution. It's obviously in CP's head as he played (I use the term loosely) there on Saturday in the first half. A five man midfield of Dervite in front of the back four, Pritchard running about, Stephens in the Gerrard role with Wilson and green wide seems to be the solution we are stumbling on. The problem with that though is that we don't have a striker who is suited to a 4-5-1 system. kermit is the closest we have and he's crocked. Fuller is slightly less crocked but I must be the only fan who hasn't been convinced by him yet, so I guess it's over to Hulse for the time being. Hard on BWP who is showing this season the heart and appetite that I criticised him for not appearing to have last year but he's a square peg in a round hole with this system. I can't get a 4-4-2 with a strong enough midfield out of our current complement so this is a genuine conundrum.
I actually thought JJ did quite well in the Gerrard role in a 5-man midfield before his injury. He does get into scoring positions although sadly he doesn't tuck them away like he used to. I wonder whether BWP could play in this position? I don't think he's going to be the deadly scoring machine we'd like but he's got other qualities which might suit this role. We need a few goals from our midfield.
Been impressed with Wilson lately too, I've liked him since the Orient game when he got a bit of stick and hoped he'd get a chance, I think he is more then capable on RM he ran riot in the second half against Barnsley I thought but it just didn't come off, when going down the line he was superb can beat players and can cross. The Leeds game (looking at the highlights) is no different. He has been a great signing in my opinion so far and I believe will be like Wiggins, got a lot of stick when he first started but will flourish into one of our main players. I am fully confident we have decent RM options now with Greeny and Wilson and I am confident in having a fine RB back up incase Solly gets injured too.
