I think Evans has to come in to give the team a much needed energy boost. Oli and McKenna will both be tired and one, if not both, could be dropped. Looks like both Koren and Dudge are still unlikely to feature. I think most of us expect to see Simpson and Aluko walk back in following Bruce's comments. I presume Faye will be back in contention and if so I expect him to start. Personally, I'd go: -----------Amos------------ -Rosey-Chester-Faye-Townsend -Elmo-Evans-Olofinjana-Quinn ------Simpson--Aluko------- However, I doubt Brucey will give Townsend a start and I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce Jnr was back in the starting XI. It's unusual that the injuries are hitting us so early, it's interesting to consider what the team might look like if we had a fully fit squad. -----------Amos------------ ---Chester-Faye-Hobbs----- Elmo-Koren-Oli-Quinn-Dudgeon -------Aluko---Fryatt------- Now that team would fill me with confidence. Seems tight at the back but still with a lot of attack-minded players.
Amos Chester Faye Bruce Elmo Evans Oli Quinn Simpson Proschwitz Aluko Bench: Eldin, Townsend, McKenna, Cooper, McLean, Rosey, Devitt (why not?)
-----------Amos------------ ---Chester-Faye-Bruce----- Elmo-------Evans----Dudgeon(or other) ------Aluko------Quinn------- ----Proschwitz - Simmo -------
The '(or other)' is quite important. We can't play that 3-5-2 with Dawson and does Bruce have the balls to throw Conor in at the deep end? Unless Dudge is fit I think we'll have to go 4-4-2, or at least a formation with a back 4.
Don't get peoples reasoning with putting Aluko in central midfield? He's far too lightweight. Quinn could possibly play left wing back if we had more of our midfield available, but considering the injuries it would leave us entirely lacking flair and drive in the middle if we were to play 3-5-2. I'd like to see Amos Elmo - Chester - Faye - Dawson Evans - Oli - Quinn Simpson - Big Proschwitz - Aluko Never seen Townsend play so I'd stick with the old head there, and Oli adds height and a great passing range from deep in midfield to help set off counter attacks. Aluko and Simpson to make the runs, give us movement and create problems, Proschwitz to drive on from deep to get on the end of crosses and square balls from the other forwards, and play Simpson and Aluko in with through balls down the channels. Think that would work a treat.
i think quinn is wasted out wide, all his good play comes when he comes inside and gets forward but then when he keeps doing that, theres limited supply down the left.. not many options with dudgeon out tho so hel probably stay there unless he plays aluko there..id go back to 3-5-2, thought we where average at weds, left it late v ipswich and where **** last night with 4-4-2, enjoyed all our games with the other formation , even the ones we lost.. id go .....................amos ...... .mcshane -chester-faye elmo - mckenna-evans-oli- quinn simpson--aluko assuming koren is out, if he isnt straight in for mckenna
I suspect the people who were at Boro last night aren't including Proschwitz and the ones who weren't, are. I think Quinn is more than capable of playing left wing back, but it seems a shame to not play him more centrally, I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce tries to get junior on he pitch too.
I said before last nights game I wouldnt play Proschwitz in a 4-4-2, certainly not with McLean, as he lacks the movement to suit our style, but central in a 4-3-3 with runners grafting either side for him I think he'd work, then he can just mooch about making space for himself and waiting for the deliveries to arrive.
Jakupovic (if fit if not Oxley) Rosenoir Chester Faye Townsend Elmo Oli Quinn Aluko Simpson Proschwitz We have nothing to loose really, I mean we are in front of the Sky cameras, we never win when we are on Sky.
I didn't see Proschwitz last night, but I think that you still have to play him. He deserves a run of at least 3-4 starts. A system of "You get a start by scoring as a sub, if you fail to score you are out" - doesn't really breed confidence.
personally think he will be more use at home, when we will have more possesion and crosses in the box etc, doesnt fit in well away when trying to play quick counter attacking football imo..
Might be a few team sheets that need amending - It looks like Koren will travel, as will Faye(both slight doubts, but should be okay), Dudgeon is out, he's off to see a specialist and almost certainly needs surgery and will be out for months(we definitely need to sort a left back/wing back, or start playing Townsend).
