Yep agree with you Lapras, they have always been arrogant pony fiddlers and always will be even when they get relegated ............again!
We can always rely on you sb, Maybe there is some appeal to you on fiddling with ponies ? as like many of your comments, they carry the same content. Lapras I think the arrogant Saints comments are pretty much few and far between until the lover of pony fiddling comes along and if you we're around on the old BBC 606 you would have had that same comment thrown at you by many Saints fans.
If you have no interest in Pompey- then why are you on our board, mate ?? Just enjoy your time in the Prem now- I assure you, you won't last anywhere near the seven seasons we did, so enjoy your year in the top league But still, there's no need to be bitter cause you've just been thrashed, yet again- this time by frikin West Ham
Lets way it up shall we A team finding there feet with a attacking policy which is going to be hard to balance straight away. Prem football , Great Ground, fantastic youth football set up, fantastic training facilities, superb owners and chairman, a great English young manager, Oh and of course real money in the bank. I won't even stope to repeat the obvious.
That's one way of looking at it. Sorry Poss, but Southampton have entered the PL woefully undercooked. They are nowhere near good enough defensively at the moment. It's no coincidence that, of the three teams promoted, the one that is succeeding over the other two, by a country mile have a very experienced, single minded manager at the helm.
The pundits on Match of the Day on Saturday said that if Southampton let in more than one goal this week-end, they'll have made the worst start, defensively, to a Premier League season ever! (And they quite likely will, considering Spurs have Defoe up-front, he'll have a field day! Which is not surprising, considering the fact that on average they ship around three goals per game I'll go for another Saints drubbing- Spurs 4-0 So'ton .. although to be fair, it could be 5 or 6
Maybe meowth but I wouldn't swap Nigel for anyone. It ain't easy to be positive when things aren't going well, but talking about getting rid of him is an insult. Big run of games coming up, so I hope we get something out of it, for him more than anything.
To be fair- he is a top quality, young english manager. Which is not something common these days. Perhaps the Premier League has just come to early for him- or he could not strengthen his squad as much as he would have liked to All the best for the season, anyway!
Spurs have only kept one clean sheet in the Premier League so far this season so if Saints play 4-3-3 with Lambert on song, it could be a cry of "we'll score more than you" from both sides. The Premier League record of 11 goals [Pompey 7-4 Reading] may be under threat here. I'll go 8-6 to Spuds
Steady on Possum I have never seen you make so many grammatical and elementary spelling mistakes, you must be well rattled! I will go for another 4-1 defeat for the Scummers
Its the best way to look at it pm because they are true facts. Your right we are definitely undercooked defensively, but with adding a little more sauce and longer in the oven, by April i expect to see a full English Managed Roast Dinner presented up on the table and who knows you might be able to add a little bit of a blue dressing that you had managed to purchase.
I can't see us getting anything out of Spurs although I anticipate plenty of goals at each end. Talk of signing Dawson seems too wide of the mark as I can't see why he would be wanting to play Championship football next year. It will be intriguing to see who is selected in goal and in defence on Sunday and whether Lambert will return to lead the front. Curious to read Meowth's comment in light of how the teams promoted have faired so far. Reading's performance must be an even greater cause for concern than Saints (if that is possible!) given how well they were playing at the end of last season when they seemed unstoppable. West Ham have added wisely to their squad and have a capable manager in Allardyce yet fans were calling for his head in the spring when the wheels started to come off their campaign. I think Adkin's fall from grace is staggering. He seemed to be extremely tactically aware last season and had an ability to make substitutions which changed games. This season he seems to be leaving his best goal scorer out and frequntly taking Puncheon off when JP has been the most consistent out field player for Saints this season. In my opinion, Puncheon is one player who does look like he belongs in the Premiership. It is difficult to ascertain why things have gone quite so wrong for both Saints and Reading. This begs the question as to how well Appleton would do in a higher league. I have often expressed my enthusiasm for his abilities on this board and think that he is under-rated by most Saints fans. Given the lack of resources he has done well for Portsmouth but I would be intrigued to see how he would cope in the Premier League. Given the influx of foriegn players and more of a continental system of playing, it seems to be hard for many younger British managers to perform at the highest level in this country. Clark is currently doing well at WBA but Lambert and Rodgers are both failing to live up to the expectations in their respective clubs. Teams like Saints who want to play are regularly torn apart by technically superior sides so that a more direct approach favoured by the likes of Allardyce or Pulis seems a credible option. I always felt that it would be tough for Adkins but he now seems seriously out of his depth despite demonstrating considerable skill and ability in the Championship. Is this a fate that awaits Appleton too?
It is pm, lamb at the top table mind you, which always tastes better than scraps out of bins in the basement.
As in lambs to the slaughter ? - you need to prompt your team to beef it up a bit or else you will get a good porkingfrom Spurs next weekend. Unless of course your team are chicken or trying to ducktheir responsibilities Some of your defenders are a bunch of p(h)easants and all they do is serve up a load of tripe Pick the bones out of that one
Rumors on the Saints board that Harry might be in if Atkins gets sacked. In that case he'll be picking the 'bare bones' out of it I think they'll be in a stew if the rumours turn out to be true.
They've let in 9 in their past three games And they've already got the worst goal difference in the league. I think a formation change, and a change in game-plan, is needed for Saints, if they are to survive in the Prem. As much as people hate the style of play- in some cases, defensive is the way to go. Southampton should try and forget about playing like Chelsea or Arsenal, and more like West Ham. If they can get it- I'm sure they'll do fine, with Lambert up top nicking goals, just like Drogba did for Chelsea last season, when Chelsea won the Champions League. If they keep trying to play attacking, fluid football, they'll let in goals even quicker than they are now. (They concede three goals per game on average- they've let in 24 goals so far ..) Or, a managerial change- that normally lifts the players a bit )Like Chelsea last year!) Good luck Saints fans!
I see that you are still mincing away on here, Woopert. Anyway, I will meat you halfway. Punfests are our "joint" responsibility......
