Every goal is a defensive error. The goals Spurs scored against us were far more easily preventable than the goals we scored against you. It was only really the 4th goal that was a dreadful error.

The main difference was is that Shaktar pressed high up the pitch from the offset (them scoring early obviously threw our gameplan the window) and asserted themselves. They denied us space and closed down. We created probably only 2 clear cut chances (at best) compared to the 10-12 we had against Spurs.

All that Shaktar and Spurs proved is what I've said all along. Cahill is our best CB and he and Terry are our strongest pairing. Shaktar and Spurs both exposed us at the back big time and that will offer plenty of encouragement for United. Then again United are as bad as any team in the PL at the moment defensively so we're not exactly underdogs.

District,in all seriousness you were lucky not to lose to Juve at The Bridge as they hit the woodwork late on when it was 2-2 so the return leg is by no means certain for you. Also Donetsk will park the bus in the return leg.

    What do you mean?

By best I meant most experienced. Poorly phrased admittedly but in big games like that there is no other CB I'd rather have

A draw was definitely a fair result. At 2-0 we had a great chance to make it 3 and didn't but fair play to Juve they showed character to come back.

Which is why I think you'll either draw or lose in Italy.

Well Gallas made a hash of two clearances giving them directly to Chelsea players in dangerous positions and Walker as you mentioned gifted you another. The first two from Gallas were extremly basic, you don't clear the ball across your own area and in the second case you make the easiest clearance you can which was not make a low clearance into an area that you don't have any sight of. Luiz didn't track his man and Cahill didn't mark Defoe properly so it's fair enough if you think they were preventable but don't pretend they were "far more easily preventable" because they were not.

You created 10-12 clear cut chances? Behave, DL.

Oh and you'd said Terry was your best defender just the otherday.

Fair enough you've explained you used the wrong words for the last one but to read your original post is massively exaggerated, if not totally wrong. That's why I didn't know where to start with it.

Sometimes I wonder if you headed the ball a few times too many when you were younger, DL.
All four of the goals that we conceded were from ridiculous mistakes, mainly passing or giving the ball directly to your players in dangerous positions.
You scored more than half of the shots that you had on target and nearly half of your overall shots.
10-12 clear cut chances? You didn't actually have 12 shots in the entire game.

  14. I've got to say, that I've been waiting for a Chelsea crash, and last night we saw it.

It will be interesting to see how they react to this, in the EPL.

slipped up against Atletico,Juve and now Shaktar......not very good at toe to toes..makes me rue the fact that we lost our 2 most powerful players for the match last saturday.

We lost our 3 most powerful players on Saturday, one entirely due to a foolish error by AVB.

You can't blame Chelsea fans for acting defensive and refusing to admit they have been lucky as look at their position in the table? yes they look weak at the back and teams find it easy to create chances, yet look at their results, can't argue with the facts.

If we play Chelsea with a weakened team, gift them 3 goals and allow players like mata, torres, oscar & hazard to have space on the counter then it doesn't matter how crap they are in defence, as cech will no doubt pull of world class saves (which he did) and chelsea will score, which they did!

Thats our problem for being naive and lacking real shape, but also Chelsea deserve praise for the way they pass the ball and attack, as it has been the reason they have had such a great start.

Well said as usual Boss, Chelsea are a better team/squad than us, I have no doubt. They also play a nice brand of football.

It could have been different on Saturday, but as the SD coach said, not only were we short on quality, we were short on organisation too. Off the pitch, RDM got one over on AVB on the day.

Nothing to do with the last minute withdrawal of one of our most important players, which added to the 4 first teamers that were already missing then, Ghoddle?
The additional £85m net spend in the summer sure makes it easier to get one over on people, too.
