You have one keeper on the pitch, 10 outfield players that can score goals. We haven't properly addressed our goal keeping deficiencies since Myhill left. In terms of a permanent GK, Mannone was class - Amos simply isn't.

If he was class (as you put it) he wouldn't be playing in the championship, would he?

Majorly in non league and league 1. He missed an open goal from 2 yards out today, along with his 6 yard open goal miss on Saturday. He runs and huffs and puffs, is great in the air and even moves into good position, but he just has no technical ability sadly which hinders him too much to be effective at this level.

Did any of you go to the Leicester game?

Anyone who went can not deny that he made two world class saves, literally world class. I agree he hasn't lived up to the level of Mannone yet i agree, but not a weak link, Sir Alex normally gets it right.

They were good saves, but didn't do us much good. Similarities in that game to tonight are, we were outplayed and poor going forward then as well.

Unfortunately, people remember when he cocked up then when he did something good. In the Blackpool game, where he dashed out of his goal and should've put the ball into the crowd. His mistake was bad nad eventually cost us, but Faye missed a header in the build up, which nobody whinges about, but was equally as poor.

There are some 'class' players in the Championship. Mannone was playing in the Arsenal first team last time I checked. If you're talking about Myhill, yes he's in the Championship - he's still a better bet between the sticks than Amos.

Yet both get slated for making mistakes frequently. Oh the irony.

Goalkeeping mistakes are polarised as at present on average we're conceding just under 1.5 goals a game. Yet only scoring 1.5 goals a game. More clean sheets required.

To be honest we looked, for the first half at least, like we had gone there to defend some unknown record. We should have gone there to rip the tits off them - what the **** did we have to lose? This was a negative approach and I don't mean managerially. The players lacked any spark, mediocrity ruled and their players bided their time and took their real chances. If I were SB I would be ****ing explosive; you can reward performances, but but ****, you should descend on the front two-thirds ****e we got tonight. Oh, and yes, Amos is a learner (thats why he's here!) and he needs more homework.

    Lessons learnt, let's move on.

Look forward if you wish to get on the blame train - even when we controlled the game (more than thought - in parts) we let our selves down in mid-field - we need a midfielder who can be a general and cut his own corner.

I think we saw us as we are tonight - it was disapponting, but far from terminal. (That may be the Whytes and Mackay!)

We're not keeping clean sheets - in general because of poor defensive errors - but today because we were totally outplayed.

Blaming the keeper is just petty. I haven't been disappointed with anything he's done so far. Against Blackpool the centre backs McShane and Faye put him in a position where he had to choose between letting Phillips run at him and probably score or charge out and try to force an error, I really don't see why it was his fault.

At Leicester he was our best player imo and while I accept the point that he hasn't made a lot of saves yet, he hasn't really had any to make either has he? Before today we've been limiting teams to hardly any shots and when they do get a chance it's a sitter that they score.

I'm the opposite to glennonslastpint, I think Amos just looks classy in everything he does, his handling of the ball and the ease with which he does the basics impresses me a lot.

Where has the other keeper Jakuovic gone?.. Amos is learning his trade and is another rookie keeper like Gulacsi (spelling?) albeit a fair bit better. Manonne would have been a big assett for us.

Mcleanand Prostwich were rewarded with their starts after impressing on Sat but Brucie will have seen that Aaron is not a goalscorer and the German is still finding his feet big style in the hustle and bustle of two games a week in the NPC.

Fryatt is a big loss - he will now know Simpson and Aluko are our best forward pairing but decided to give them a breather with another away trip down to Brizzle on sat.

I agree with that Aluko and Simmo need to start as much as possible, unfortunately despite Prozzys weekend heroics the pressure would be back on with him starting again. Amos is OK as a keeper, I would worry that a defence with Mcshane in it is always going to be unbalanced, I know he has his fans on here and he is wholehearted, I just don't rate him and when you've got one player like that in the defence it can unsettle the rest of them and the goalie.

Amos has been both hero and villain for us this season - some great saves - like at Leicester - but some poor decisions (Blackpool home) and some basic errors like it sounds like he did tonight. Is he a keeper for a promotion chasing team? Jury is still out I think

Compared to Gulasci?! Amos is bloody Buffon compared to Gulasci. We need to sign someone permanently in January or the summer. Sick of all these loan keepers... OR give oxley a chance

Let's face it for a team that has promotion aspirations we HAVE A LOT of weak links.Dawson,Mclean,McShane,Olly,Simpson and other perifory players don't have the quality and consistency to get us up for promotion.Steve Bruce will need a big transfer fund to make it viable. We took on a young Oxley several seasons ago if he hasn't progressed to be given a start ,WHY? I know we have capable players out injured but we need to seriously look at moving on the weaker links and start rebuilding as early as the January window. Other teams seem to pick up players from lower leagues who prove their worth ,even at premier level, why can't we. So many of our mistakes at the back are schoolboy errors and our so called strikers lack basic control skills .
Goodbye to Boro and onward to Bristol where we seldom come away with a point let alone a win.Happy days are here again!!!!!!!!!

<laugh> I don't even think I need to make a genuine argument against this, it's just so unbelievably, blatantly, stupidly wrong.

    Moronic post.

You must be watching a different Amos to me. Most people I have spoken to are in complete agreement that Amos is poor.

I'm not sure why Amos is getting so much grief after last night, he's the least of our problems.

He did spill the ball a few times, but the conditions were not ideal and he was playing with a defence that was all over the place. Apart from some world class interceptions from Chester, we were mess at the back last night, for one of the goals, Dawson will still hanging off the back of one of their defenders, in their area, when the goal went in.
