like most people who follow football..the Shaktar coach is aware that Chelsea have no problem paying stupid prices to purchase players. I understand his thinking...makes sense for his club to sell to chelsea for an inflated price rather than to Spurs for a reasonable price.
Nordsjaelland are beating Juve 1-0 aswell, Juve could be bottom of the group by the end of play tonight, who'd have thought it!! Hope that score stays the same, that way if we lose to Shakhtar its not so bad
Well as I, and the SD coach, predicted Chelsea did worse against them than against us. A lot worse in fact. SD in fact now top the group, ahead of Chelsea and Juventus, no surprise their coach thinks they're better than us, and that the rankings indicate this as well.
I wasnt debating whether SD or Spurs were better, it was just that it was such a petty and unnecessary comment to make. There was no need to say it is all
More likely he's annoyed that, rather than a club with a ton of money to throw at players, he's dealing with a club that throw a ton of negotiating their way instead...
Doesn't matter, I was still right, and so was the SD coach. They did much better at home v chelsea than we did. As he correctly said the way we played on saturday, his players have more quality and are better organised than we were, and he was proved correct in that analysis. All the people dissing Shaktar maybe understand a bit better now why they are ranked something like 18 places above us by UEFA. Oh and also why they top the group above Chelsea and Juve.
Fair enough Bodanki. But some people started dissing the SD team, and doubting they were better than us. The coach will feel totally justified in his comments now, that's for sure.
Ghoddle, off the subject you really go to great lengths to say you're right. It's as if you're trying to convince us of something about yourself. You seem to be trying to prove a point about yourself a lot of the time. A sign of insecurity or concerned that you won't be listened to or something? There's more but I think you get my drift. Relax.
Yep, fair comments TMT. It might be insecurity, it might that I just like being right as I think that tends to show good insight into the game. Of course, sometimes I'm wrong, and that's bad insight. Everyone gets some things right, some things wrong, on the whole the more knowledgeable call things right more than they call wrong. In one sense it doesn't matter, but these forums tend to get confrontational, and my judgement has been called into question more than once, which I tend to take personally. Though as I say, where I can see I'm wrong, I'll hold my hands up. For example, no way did I think Defoe could play the lone striker role as well as he has done this season, I'd still rather have Ade there, but I definitely called it wrong over JD in this matter.
When a poster makes a declaration on a site then that poster puts himself at risk of being wrong and if somebody is confrontational with me on here when I'm wrong or disagreed with I normally just shrug and try not to bring attention to myself. If I'm right I'm right and if I'm wrong I'm wrong. I never remember when others are right or wrong so it doesn't matter to me. If you are personally right about about something it's "Oh well done" from me and if you're wrong it's "shrug" from me and I don't hold it against you or remember it. I don't really care what the other posters think of me as this is a football website not a group therapy session and I'm sure the others don't care what I think of them. I've been wrong on here often enough but yesterday I was right when I said a home win for Donetsk but I'm not proud of myself and I won't ram it down people's throats that I was right. I think an away win on Sunday but if I'm wrong well so be bloody well it I'm wrong and I hope other posters won't remember it. I've rambled on enough. As for the CL,yesterday is forgotten and I'll be seeing how the goons do tonight. They've done ok in the CL and realistically I see it continuing.
So agreeing with the Shakhtar coach and the uefa rankings, gives a 'good insight into football'. On that basis, I now consider myself a bit of an expert on tennis as I happen to fully agree with this summers Wimbledon seedings that Serena Williams is better than Laura Robson.
Hi tmt, good comment ,I'm often wrong, but what the heck!,as for the goons tricky one for them tonight,i think they are over rated,to me they only have two stand out player's Crazola, the other one,is just returning from a long lay-off
Fine sentiments TM, and good luck in your patrician stance above the hurly burly. I enjoy debating with you and like you as a poster, but I think you may be deluding yourself a bit here. Most/all football forums quickly become a mix of group therapy, playground position taking, football banter and info, friendship and enmity, fun and hate, and most/all of the other human emotions. It's just the way of the world when egos collide, passions are intense as they are are about football, etc etc. I read a lot of websites, but only contribute to this one. None of them stick to football matters only, none of them are free from strife and the 'I was right, you were wrong' posturing, banter, etc. Remember people don't have to say the magic words 'right/wrong'. If, for example, someone calls another person's view 'dumb' or 'stupid' or whatever, they are normally implying they're right and the other person is wrong. I could ramble on myself a lot longer, but I'll leave it at that.
Thanks tots and ok Ghoddle, that was a quick turnaround as I was recently on your ignore list. Anyway I'm now going to study Arsenal's opponents for tonight. That done tots you are right,it is tricky. Spurcat, well I'm an expert on women then because Laura Robson is MUCH more attractive than Serena Williams.
In all honesty I expected to lose. Shaktar an excellent side. We've got nothing to worry about because there is no way Juve will win in Donetsk. It'll be us and Shaktar going through. Us 1st and Shaktar 2nd. We will beat Shaktar at the Bridge, they are nowhere near as good as that away from home. 2-0 or 3-1 win and we are laughing. That Oscar goal was crucial because of head to head.
I didn't see all the match but what I did see was similar to WHL on Saturday with Chelsea looking good going forward but giving up lots of chances. The main difference was that Shaktar didn't give Chelsea three goals from errors. However the pundits all say that Chelsea were brilliant on Saturday and crap on Tuesday. Surely the truth is that Chelsea were the same (pretty average) in both games but Spurs were poor defensively and Shaktar were not
