A thank you thread to all that super Nige has done for us its been an amazing ride and one no saints fan will forget unfortunatly all good things come to an end and for Nigel i feel its more a matter of when than if. Will he be in the dugout for the spurs game? lets hope so and even if we lose all the saints fans need to show their appreciation as i feel it will be our last chance to say thank you for the last few years. Nigel you've been amazing and here's to your future success i'm just sorry that it didn't work out for you in the premier league.
I for one would be surprised, and gutted, if he's sacked at any point during this season. We're doing things differently this time round, and stability is hopefully one of the changes.
Good to see your crystal ball is working so well, and I have good news for you and anyone else with future seeing powers, there are some vacancies which have just come up in the Italian earthquake monitoring department. Don't get it wrong though. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20025626
We've had worse starts than this in the Premier League and survived, I can remember one season when we had only 2 draws from the first 10 games. Most Saints fans are realistic enough to know that this season was never going to be easy and that is reflected in the +80% approval rating in the"should Adkins be sacked" poll, (David Cameron would love an approval rating like that!, only about 30% at the last count)
I fully accept and expected this sort of response just thought i'd put it out there as there's nothing wrong with an early thread. Anyhow i would be totally gobsmacked if ummm lets say this time next week Adkins was still in charge. Now i'm not saying i want Adkins out nothing could be further from the truth i love the guy and really want him to be successful with us, but he's not going to get the chance to many mistakes that have been punished will be his downfall.
The earliest Nigel would go is Christmas, and I honestly don't think he will go any time this season. Even if we go down this season, the five year plan would still be on schedule if we came straight back up, and I wouldn't mind betting we would.
Like i said i hope he stays but say he did stay and we did get relegated 1. do you really think cortese wouldn't then sack him and 2. straight back up honestly thats a massive gamble and one i don't think would happen more likely that cortese would resign and liebherr family sell us, which if he did resign he couldn't sack adkins so none of the above would matte. i've confused myself now.
And me! Nicola wouldn't sell if we got relegated, that wouldn't be good business. The Liebherrs would still back us under the terms of the original 5 year deal that Markus agreed, so we would have the investment needed to bring us back up. And Nicola knows Nigel is the right man for the job, just as the Saints board knew Lawrie Mac was right when he took us down, and just as the Man U board knew Fergie was right despite it taking several years for him to achieve any success.
I for one, am solidly behind Nigel He is learning, he has a reasonable squad that is proving very light as far as quality defenders at premiership levels and until we get to January and we can hopefully be more successful in buying some then we must get behind NA and the team Stay solid guys abd gals
I almost applaud SK for the way he has devised this thread. WUMmery from a different angle. Not exactly in-your-face GoMarchin style.
This was not meant as a wum at all just thought I'd put across my views on Nigel's position in a slightly different way.
Kitch, don't go and visit your Nan with these sentiments, you might well upset someone. 'We all die at some stage Nan, so I've come to say bye!'
Adkins has been wonderful for us. Results speak for themselves, but he has also provided us with much entertainment off the pitch...a side of him we will sadly not see so much of this season. Let's hope we give someone a tonking soon and see a bit more of the smiley Nigel. He is the friendly face of our club as Nicola prefers to keep himself distant. I think Nigel has earnt our support and has earnt himself more time. We are not miles adrift and one or two wins will make all the difference. Like the rest of you, I am concerned about how the team is playing and I'm not sure where our wins are going to come from, but I do think sacking Adkins is not the answer at the moment. He has earnt the right to be given a chance to turn things round. Time for the players to look at themselves.
If you do sack Adkins, it would firstly be a very stupid move and secondly show a complete and utter lack of class from your board. No offense.
