Pirelli Paul Hembery, Pirelli motorsport director âThere was an amazing atmosphere and an extremely warm welcome at the Indian Grand Prix for us last year, so weâre all looking forward to going back. This year we know a little more about the track so weâve made a less conservative choice, with the hard and the soft tyres striking exactly the right balance between performance and durability. The circuit layout is one of the toughest that our tyres will face throughout the second half of the season and itâs also the last time that we will see the hard and soft combination this year, which was previously used in Barcelona, Britain and Japan - which gives you some idea about the demands of this circuit. The Buddh circuit has been specifically designed to encourage overtaking, which is also one of the objectives behind the design philosophy of our tyres, so we should be set for an action-packed race at a crucial point in the championship.â
Tbh I'm actually more excited for 2013 than the end of this season, looking like a really strong grid.
Giedo van der Garde is replacing Kovalainen for fp1 again. He's due to alternate with the two drivers for all the races till the end now isn't he? Gearing up for a drive next season perhaps.
Same here, should be a good year, RB, McLaren, Ferrari, Lotus all have great to very good cars, Mercedes, Sauber, Williams, Force India (if they're still around) on their day can compete with the top 4, I'm hoping that the top four will soon max out their performance and the second tier cars can somehow find that 2/3 tenths that help narrow the gap. Could also do with Pirelli supplying tyres that don't last as long as they currently do, meaning that teams will need to stop at least twice a race.. With regards to RB bringing more updates, why not, if they work now, they'll go on next years cars seeing there isn't going to be any significant changes to the specs for the 2013 cars..
I really wish Pirelli would make a race with Super soft and Hard tyres. The SS would be much faster, but last nowhere near as long, so the people who start on Hards and go SS's later would make the race exciting etc..
I think this race should fit the bill then (Softs and Hards choosen), medium and Hard tyres were used at Monza and look how Perez stormed through the field.. Maybe some of the front runners could "luck" into this again, have crap qualifying, not get into Q3, start the race on the Hards and when everyone is on the slower tyres, bung on the Softs and reap the benefits of a tyre that should be 1+ seconds a lap quicker..
I often wish more teams would do q3 on the harder tyres just to give it a go, see how the strategy pans out when your starting further forward.
Reports going about that Ferrari's upgrades have not worked when they tested them and have had to go back to Cologne, RBR bringing something substantial!
Correct, these upgrade are due to back fire, as far as I'm concerned, with 1BN+ Indians behind Karthikeyan giving him a feel good factor boost of 0.000002secs per lap per person, it his to lose! .... However he's more likely to lose the car going into a gentle right hander doing nothing more than 80mph!
Silver, I can see through all this mind game bullshit. You often put links with all your theories and the latest load you havent, just because you want Alonso fans to get upset about it! I really think you're cracking under the pressure more than Vettel is.
Buttons to loose based on the fact its in India and I'm currently making a balti. B and B....suspicious
motorsport com ‏@motorsport #Ferrari have admitted they are concerned crucial upgrades to the F2012 car will not work as expected. #F1 http://bit.ly/RuSBDs Worldcarfans F1 ‏@WorldcarfansF1 Massa admits to Ferrari's car development problems: Ferrari have admitted they are concerned crucial upgrades ... http://bit.ly/X6xhba http://www.f1talks.pl/2012/10/23/ferrari-z-malymi-zmianami-w-indiach-red-bull-tez-ma-cos-w-zanadrzu/ Although it would seem that Red Bull already this season has taken its toll, it's very reliable sources suggest that the team from Milton Keynes has another package of amendments. new elements to be implementation until the last race of the season. Amendments to say the least to be significant, and if the information about their performance proves to be true, it's Sebastian Vettel should not only maintain, but also a much larger lead over Fernando Alonso. For more information on this subject should read on to bring tomorrow's Auto Motor und Sport. That's what I read anyway. The upgrades for Ferrari (the ones that worked) are said to be only cosmetic, while RBR are bringing something bigger that is said to be known will work. So they must be upgrading the rear again now they have cracked it per se...
I'm guessing that Alonso will run the car that Massa had in Korea, which seemed like it could match Webber atleast. We'll just have to wait until this weekend (monday for me :/) to see what's happening though.
I heard that was a mistranslation, nothing was different with their cars on Sat-Sun, though rumour says Massa was testing out on Free practice a different exhaust firing or something on those lines...
In that article Massa says: "We are working on a lot of things in the development of the car, (But) we have had some problems with parts we have brought to the last few races not working when we go onto the track". There's nothing mentioned about the updates for India not working. The only thing we know about the India updates is what Tombazis said in the last SF Racing News video: "We have had an aero test prior to heading off to India, where we ran control tests on these updates to really understand what the problem was. We got some very interesting answers which we believe will allow us to recover from those problems and so, our aim in this forthcoming Indian GP, will be to make up the ground we have lost"
