Is that with the lost English boy in japan? If so, that is a fantastic movie. Or are you on about the one with Bruce Willis? That is good as well and the lead lady is ****ing sexy. <ok>

Hello bollocks!!! How's it hanging? Full Metal Jacket is outstanding, as is every film Kubrick ever made. Check out Paths of Glory with Kirk Douglas. Platoon also worth a mention as well.

    Time for a catch-up mate? <ok>

Based on JG Ballard's autobiography. Directed by Spielberg, screenplay by Tom Stoppard. Good pedigree <ok>

Might watch it tonight actually. I remember the music in it was top notch as well and every scene where **** got real, the music seemed to amp it up that much more.

Agreed full metal jacket is quality..

I loved the old ones though, Longest day absolute quality, guns of navarone, battle of britian, where eagles dare.. .. Apocalypse now has to be the best Vietnam film though surely..

What are people saying about saving ryans privates?? cinematically has to be the best of all time??

    EARPHONE REVIEW

Got some top new earphones last Saturday. Had never heard of the make before. Saw them on the 'Mobilefun' website. I read the reviews which were all very positive. One bloke who had a set of 'Beats Tour' said they were just as good. They cost £25 plus £3 P&P. Arrived the next day

The make is Jays (made in Sweden). I got the a-Jays 1 Bass Impact. Really terrific buy <ok>

I've seen that On The Road has been through the book to movie treatment, was never a huge fan of the book so may give the movie a go. Anyone seen it?

Apocalypse Now is superb. Still think Platoon stacks up against it - different films. Paths of Glory is outstanding.

Paths of Glory is not your standard war film, just as you would expect from Kubrick. Well worth a look. I'm lending Das Boot around the office at the mo. Brilliant. Don't watch the dubbed version though. Far better in German with subtitles.

i actually agree das boot in subititle is the way to go. good one.

i actually think saving ryan was pretty poor after you take out the first and last half hours.. i eman come on the guy you are lookign for jumps up out of the long grass just when you are hopelessly lost?

obviously first and last half hours are brillinat especially german perspective shooting hanks... nice change in perspective.

the longest day yes but how about such movies as PATTON (award winning) and the dirty dozen, the big red 1, the flying roughnecks, and other such movies... some classics out there.

midway is a real docu/movie classic....
