Not a big fan but donlt mind some of them in film form. Singin in the rain would be my favourite. Don't really see that they, or any other art form for that matter, are particularly gay.
I hate musicals, I can't imagine ever actually sitting down and watching one in a theatre or on telly. Load of ****.
I watched Starlight express with the school, thoroughly enjoyed it.. Me and the other cool kids nicked those little red binoculars and used them on the coach back to Old Buckenham to look at stuff
There are some great Musical movies. It all depends on whether you like the songs or music style. As has been mentioned Singing in the rain is a superb film, very funny so what if they burst into song now and again when the songs drive the story? I also like West Side Story, Annie Get your gun, 7 Brides for 7 brothers and the Wizard of Oz, On the Town. Not everyone's cup of tea I suppose I see them as symptomatic of a bygone age that never really existed, a glamorous Hollywood that painted a misty reverence all over it's movies. Maybe that's why I don't like modern musicals?
Anyone like pantos? My missus drags me along every year, we've seen some ****e and some quality. For the last three years we've been to the Theatre Royal in Newcastle (again) to watch a father and son duo, Danny Adams and Clive Webb (and their entourage, of course). They are as funny as ****, madcap humour combined with hilarious slapstick.
Nah, operas are gay, what's the point of paying good money to listen to some fat **** chanting in Italian in a high-pitched squeal?
I always bunged Opera and musicals into the same category tbh, ****in love some classical music, but always thought the fat wench singing over the music spoilt opera's.
Aye, opera is piss. Classical music can be great, right now I'm listening to Ralph Vaughan Williams (The Lark Ascending), a beautiful piece.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight? I just woke up. Had an ear that wouldn't pop so lay on the bed and put some ear-drops in and dozed off.
It depends on the musical really, something like Tommy or JC Superstar, then I'd say no but when you get into Starlight Express, Cats or Cabaret territory then a resounding yes. I hate those in the latter category and I'm 100% gay, never been further than the bra straps on a woman before I realised it wasn't for me. And while I'm here just let me say that Gambol really needs to feel the sensation of being rimmed, I'm sure he'd love it if he gave it a go one time.
