No, I just don't like people who get above their station. From what I heard (a member of staff who used to work under him), the man was a ****ing cock to everybody who went near him. He used to disrupt goalkeeper training (he was also the reason Mussie left - he just couldn't stand PT anymore - they almost came to blows in one half time), he was rude to the general staff and he used to fire people without warning or just cause, despite the fact that it was AP's job to do this. The man was above his station and his self importance is what later cost him his job at Palace.

As I said before, the man got us promoted but it doesn't tell the whole story. Just like Jimmy Bullard, Phil Brown and their ilk, they might have been good on stage, but behind the scenes there was a lot of **** going down that definitely shouldn't have.

I worked with him and while he was undoubtedly difficult - his nickname was Prickly Pete - this account is exagerated. He was there to do a job, he did it and just like Brian Clough he didnt care if people liked him, but they bloody respected him. Ask MoN about his thoughts on Clough and he freely admits he hated his guts and still does, but he knew he was a good manager.

Taylor did a good job in getting us promoted twice, and we will never know what would have happened if he hadn't joined Palace. So credit were credit is due, though I do think we would have not experienced the top flight if he had remained in change.

 We would have won those two promotions with Hately in charge. Taylors lived a charmed life. The England connection works wonders for anyone !

Yep, it was a given considering nobody had managed it since Nobby Horton.

I was being homophobic....oops,i meant sarcastic. My point is that Taylor was a very lucky man,to be in charge of us in that period. Anyone would do. Barmby,Pearson, would have pissed it. Yes even Phil Parkinson.

Couldnt agree more. Taylor did what no other manager in our history managed - cold hard FACT. I dont care if he was blessed with resources, Little spent more as far as I can remember (were Dudfield and Alexander our most expensive bottom divison signings?) and if anything Taylor was tight with his purse strings.

But he was 'short' with people and upset the has-been Paul Musselwhite, as well as reducing some of the wimpier players to tears.

    What a dreadful man!

This of course far outweighs two promotions.

It's not about the promotion, as I said before I'm thankful for that but he's still a cock. Is it that hard to believe that the blue eyed boy that everybody loved was in fact a massive prick to most people?

The fact that you live in Leicester seems to have affected your view of PT judging by the manner of your well articulated message?

Some games under Taylor were quite enjoyable- everyone waxes lyrical about the 4-2 at Hillsborough, beaing Leeds at the KC, Tranmere 6-1, then there's results against Oxford, Doncaster, Bournmouth, Yeovil, Swansea etc. Yes there bad patches here and there (as we'll find under Bruce as well), but he got us up out of the **** we'd found ourselves in.

I now live in South Cave (again - be it ever so humble etc). It didn't take all of my lexicon to sum up how I feel about a manager I know for a fact was a very unpleasant person.

Living in Leicester was a great experience, but the football fans I met were a bit deluded. It did not, however, have any effect on my mental capacity. I think. Maybe. Possibly. Probably. Yeah it did. Maybe.

i always found PT to be inordinately patient with the trainspotter and windowlicker buffoons who dogged him at fans' forums and phone-ins, and attempted to take his SUCCESSFUL tactics apart.

I was embarrassed for our fans at times.
