I've put the word "tribute" in lower case because there will be TRIBUTES galore, with Timeform's being many pages in the next edition of Racehorses. I wonder if there will be a special edition.

But to go on with here is a small tribute that brings a lump to the throat.

In fact that quote they extracted from the Guardian is so true in relation to the great Ribot. I look through the pedigrees of Harbinger and Frankel and see the name RIBOT. Now there's a horse (known at the time as "The Italian Wonder Horse") many would have loved to have seen racing. I did.

I'm sure all you youngsters and your children, old enough to understand, will have the same feelings towards Frankel, The Wonder Horse.

Agree Ron, a lovely sentiment. I'm so pleased that I was able to carry out my aim of following him around the country this year and I hope, at some point next year, to carry out my promise to this forum to arrange a visit to Banstead Manor to see him. Just bear with me!

That would be a fantastic visit PN

Was speaking on the phone to my mum in Australia at the weekend (she who knows not much about racehorses) and one of the first things she asked was "How did Frankel get on?"

That really would be fantastic PN. Since you first mentioned it my daughter, Amanda, has been looking forward to that and was asking the other day if it would still be possible.

I can't see it being a problem, but I would have thought it would not be until the middle of next year. The studs will all be busy with the covering season until mid-May and it is much easier to get time to see the stallions when they are not rushing around.

My thoughts are to tie a few visits together, so perhaps do Darley and Cheveley Park too. The 3 studs are within 2 miles of each other so the logistics are easy.

    Watch this space!

Terrific article by the Timeform guy, Ron, surely this will dispel the negative thoughts of a few doubters on here? Followed Timeform since the very early days, and for some strange reason I really do feel proud of them at the moment.

I saw Ribot once too, and was privileged also to see Arkle, Sea Bird II, and many other gooduns run too. Used to do my best to arrange my breaks from work to coincide with the big events, didn't always work-out, but often did!

    Thanks again for the clip.
