People often post a link within a thread or post to substantiate what they are saying. This is fine and in fact promoted, but many posters have trouble on slow computers or browsers and don't want to wait for a link to load before they know what the thread is actually about. Also if you preview a thread by hovering (as some people might want to), you can't even see the link so it's impossible to see without opening the thread what the point even is.

Because of this, it'd be easiest for everyone if when posting links, particularly on a new thread, you could explain what your point is, however briefly, instead of just relying on the link.

I've seen people complain about this before and just had a PM on the subject. So I've copied this info onto the 'Forum Rules/Hints for new users' thread and I'll unstick and close or delete this one after a few days to make sure most people can see it.

    Thanks.
