Although I am not religious I was a member of the BB for many years (junior and senior) and this meant that one had to attend church, Sunday School. The reason I finally left the BB actually. Some hymns though I found rather powerful and still find myself singing them in my head. There Is A Green Hill Far Away is monumental. As is Onward Christian Soldiers. The best of all though is Abide With Me. Sing that at a funeral and feel yourself welling up. Incredibly emotional. As I said had to leave the BB as I could not reconcile my views on us being descended from aliens and there not being an actual God as such but an alien astronaut.
Hmmm, probably the first and only one I've broken. She was a shy bookish girl but managed to attract all the lads - you knew deep down that she wasn't as innocent as she appeared. Turns out, she was quite innocent but... Oh, HYMN??!! Our God Reigns
I like Lord Jesus Chruist - that's a nice one. Really, really hate Shine Jesus Shine. My mum wants it at her funeral - i hope I die first.
Never been to church much. Grew up in a village with a large Baptist presence, for gawd knows what reason, but when they came for me, mother told them to **** off or something to that effect. Head teacher at the village school was a bit strange so assembly had a real mix of stuff that has stayed in my head forever more. Morning has Broken, Kum By Ar My Lord however that's spelt and a couple of gospel numbers: one was about Joshua and the Walls of Jericho and the other went like this: So hand it down, hand it down So hand it down, hand it down Hand me down my silver trumpet Gabriel Hand it down Send it down Any ole way just get it down Hand me down my silver trumpet lord I don't know any of the hymns you lot mention and I don't expect any of you have heard of that.
There is a theory that the new Jerusalem is in Stratford.... The song is about building a new one in England isn't it? Too much high grade punk and you tube videos
