Might be worth a pop on to another board to read how well this has gone down. The words Lead and Balloon instantly spring to mind.

I think neither jewell or Ipswich have a choice. I don't think they can reasonably attract someone till at least the January window when a few managers will be booted out and then you've got to ask yourself can they actually get a better manager that can keep them up.

Maybe lambert will be available by then lol.

I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet boys... Evans always appoints a new man before the incumbent is fired and it could well be after tomorrow night. Curbishley appears to be the firm favourite.

given the amount of loanees jewell has brought in, no way he was going to be sacked.

poor jwm and hampie are going to be rather annoyed.

Perhaps you shouldn't get your hopes up just yet, perhaps "Curbs" doesn't want the job and if he still has any real football brain he would see right through ME and the ship he has been slowly sinking

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone new in by the end of the week, its the way Evans works. I wouldn't mind Joe Jordan at this time.

BTW, well done on your win at the weekend!

Personally I wouldn't touch "Curbs" with a barge pole! He's been out of the game for eons! Billy Davis all the way! <ok>

Fully agreed but cannot honestly say who would be best under the present regime and circumstances.

When this was happening to us, not only did we have a series of cheap and not very good managers, we didn't have any money either. At least you've got Evans money behind you, he's just making crap decisions with it!
As usual it's the fans that suffer the most and for that reason Guru JWM and the rest of the true fans you have a bit of sympathy from me, but I'm afraid you'll still have to take the local rivalry crap.......because it's good fun!!! <ok>

If we went for a younger manager, we would need to set up a long term plan and if that means going down then so be it.

it is incredible how many of the exact same mistakes that city made in 2008, ipswich are making in 2012. they've obviously learnt nothing from our example. we hung on to roeder for about 6 weeks longer than we should have, and consequentially were relegated. ok, we appointed the wrong man after him but would it be that much of a surprise to see someone like say, mick mills or even terry butcher come in? their very own bryan gunn. they've got loanees coming out of their arses, concede goals for fun, struggle to score, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, get false dawns against the better teams... the parallels are startling and have been for more than 12 months.

as for curbishley, he was a good manager a decade ago, really good. i even think he'd have been perfect for ipswich when they sacked magilton. now? no chance - would be like signing their own death sentence. five years he's been out of the game. that's properly out of the game - no connection to it at all. i sort of agree with guru and warky in that jewell staying could purely be to bide time but its risky as although its still relatively early in the season, its time they really don't have at this stage - they are already cut adrift of safety. i wouldn't be surprised if they beat derby... then what? he's still blatantly the wrong man for the job. does he stay for the game after that too...?

their mess is entirely self-inflicted. its been a long and steady decline with little respite. no new manager will be able to click their fingers and turn it around. they could stay up but they will be in the mix all season now.

With ME's track record of appointing managers we could well be out of the frying pan and into the fire! Curbishley is a definate NO-NO and it would be signing our own death warrant! Billy Davis is the only one I would consider or Mick McCarthy. This season will not be about pretty football and will be all about grinding out results by battling hard. We are now in a dog-fight and we need someone like Davis or McCarthy on our side.

in a way, its refreshing to see an owner showing patience with a manager, but on this occasion it seems obvious this patience is misplaced. so many times managers are sacked after two or three poor results. how can you possibly judge a manager on that? this is of course different and indicates to me that the owner has no knowledge of football. we've been there ourselves - we know how they feel... but as said before, they showed us no sympathy in our desperate times, so its difficult to feel any towards them in theirs.

Currently after 11 games we average the following:

    0.4 points at home
    0.83 points away

Projected across the remaining games both home and away the figures don't make pleasant reading.
9.2 points at home all season
    19 points away all season
Giving a paltry 28.2 points for 46 matches.

If you're looking for some solace in Ipswich scoring goals then it's depressing:
Scored at home 1.0 per game
    Scored away 0.67 per game

Projected across the remaining games both home and away the figures are.
    Total scored home 23
    Total scored away 15

Goals against also makes for very unpleasant reading.
    Conceded at home 1.8
    Conceded away 2.0
Projected total goals conceded home 41
Projected total goals conceded away 46

    Summary for Season 2012/13:
    Total Points: 28
    Goals For: 38
    Goals Against: 87
    Goal Difference -49

And PJ is still in charge......WHY??
