When i saw we were going to make a sub, i think Steve Bruce must have been the only one thinking Liam's coming off!! Brave and as it turned out brilliant decision.

I've always said he is our best player and thought he should be in the premiership, as good as Glen Johnson in my eyes. But has he not kicked on? Is he in the comfort zone and Brucey wants more out of him?

I thought he had a good game yesterday, but the change actually makes sense when Elmo and Aluko are involved. I actually think El Mohammady is better at right back than right midfield, he looks better taking defences on and crossing from deep, and is solid defensively, which is a shame because I really rate Rosie too.

It was perfect management. I agreed with all 3 who came off as the end result showed. At times Rosie and Elmo were getting in each others way and the changes were spot on. We have another game on tuesday. With the news on Dudgeon not being good either Rosie should not worry and yes maybe it is a jolt to his system. I think the win bonus will take any pain away. No player should ever be in a comfort zone.

I wasn't expecting it, but I can see the logic behind it. Dudgeon is out and Chester has been eased back in, it makes sense to not push Rosy too much because if we decide to bring Chester back in by going 532 we'll need Rosy to play (on the left) and he hasn't had a lot of game time recently.

I questioned the subs at the time also, not just Rosenior but the subs of Faye, however it paid off, and that isn't the first time he's done that already this season. So credit to SB on that!

I really rate Rosenior and we can't leave a player of his quality sat on the bench. I would put him in LWB and drop Dawson!

    Thought Rosie was poor today.

At combined fault for the ipswich goal then didnt look interested, Saw Elmo having a go at him and Mckenna for not blocking a cross.

Looked far better when Elmo went to Rb who went on to produce a cracking performance.

I'm sorry but Rosenior is a million miles from Glen Johnson and I don't really rate Johnson!
He's done a good job for us and is a likeable character but I wouldn't offer him a new contract.
I think he is a average/good championship full back at best Elmo has shown the difference in class of what a good right sided full back/wing back can offer.

Not sure about not offering Rosenior a new contract but I wouldn't play him tomorrow

True, but Elmo is not ours and we'll be needing Rosie when Sunderland recall him.

Blimey how opinions seemingly change on this board - one or two had Rosey down as the best RB we've ever had - now some are questioning his ability?

Its a long hard season and we will have to make maximum use of the squad - Rosey has been out injured (this showed particularly in the first half at Hillsborough) and is still trying to regain form and fitness.

We already knew Liams final ball was poor, but then Elmo coming in and playing that right wing back position seeing his deliveries and running at his man has made everyone realise that, thats where we went badly wrong last season, final passes and crosses, Brady and Cam let us down a lot last season, now having Quinn and Elmo, Aluko, and Dudgeon all getting starting places it has made a huge difference.

Faye and Olifinjana should have been IMO the first 2 to come off. Oli was blowing by the hour mark. SB got his subs spot on - just not in the right order(to quote a Morecambe & Wise sketch).

Indeed. But typical of some City fans. Rosie should be cut some slack ffs, he can play right or left back. With Dudgeon now out until December (by the sounds of it) we dont have many left sided options. I think it shows how much he cares looking at his body language sat on the bench..but apart from the Ipswich goal Rosie did ok but did tend to get in Elmos way at times. imo

Rosenior is one of the best right backs in this division and would probably walk into most other teams.
We are fortunate to have such high quality competition for the right back berth between him and Elmo and that's exactly what Bruce would be hoping for in all positions.
Just because Rosie can't get into the team at the moment due to Elmo's form is no reason to talk about not renewing his contract.

Nobody is doubting his ability as a right back, but his ability as a right wing back as he has a poor final ball.

He should certainly be cut some slack, but I don't think he'll be considered at left back, he's barely(if ever) ever played there in the past(as far as I'm aware).

He deserves a bit of slack I agree but take off your" Rosie tinted glasses " he is not one of the best in the division I like him and he's done well but is limited especially when we have the ball.
