Its got to the stage that when Peter Taylor is given a job its hardly worth him unpacking.

If ever there was a manager who you might say lived a charmed life,it was was this guy. We gained two straight promotions in his charge. But the real reasons for that were nothing to do with him.

    1.Adam Pearson
    2.Stuart Elliot,who taylor didn't sign.
    3.Ian Ashbee,Taylor didn't sign
    4.Andrew Dawson ....

You get the gist. Taylors tactics were ****ing shocking.

I'll never forget his return to the Circle, with Palace. They kicked off with a long ball to the corner flag. They went one nil up,then went 11 behind the ball. It was exactly the way we played under him.

That's when i knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt,we would equalise. And we did. They could have murdered us that day.

Were talking about the man that dropped Justin Whittle for Mark Joseph !

The man was a complete ****er apparently. The young players were afraid of him, the senior players were constantly berated at half time, even when we were winning (some to the point of tears apparently). He didn't leave us to take the Crystal Palace job, we told him to take it because we wanted him to leave. He went in for the Charlton job and went for an interview without even telling AP, which just about sums him up. Yeah he got us promoted, thankful for that, but from what I've heard if I hear/see him again it's 1,000,000 years too soon.

C'mon - give some credit where its due .

First promotion for the Club in 19 years - ok given decent amont of monet to spend at that level but so had Brian Little and Jan Molby and they couldn't manage it.

The back to back promotions and a steady first year in the then CCC. Yes he fancied a tilt at managing in the PL with Charlton, didn't get the job and effectively 'forced' to take the Palace job by AP after the relationship became a little 'skinny'.

He certainly rates highly in my book after supporting this Club for 40 years and having to suffer a decade of dross in the 90's under the likes of Ternant Dolan and Hateley ffs.

To be fair to Little, had he managed to hang around a bit longer, I think he would have managed it.

But Taylor got us promoted twice and for that we should be grateful, though that 'everyone back for corners' bollocks used to drive me up the wall.

Adam thought Little had lost the plot and wasn't prepared to hang around for him to get us promotion - I know that for a fact.

Its far too easy to slate Taylor using this logic. Ok, by the same token how come Molby DIDN'T get us promoted after signing those players? Taylor also signed Bo, Delaney, Cort (I think?), ***an - all players sold for a huge profit and contributed immensely to our rise up the leagues. You can then throw in BBB and Allsopp who in terms of a partnership were the best we'd had since Billy and Keith. Every manager who has a signing success rate of around 50% is doing well.

Lest we forget that Elliott's goals were so significant because we had such a string defensive record. The amount of times we won 1 or 2 nil with Stuart scoring was mental.

The History books dont lie. Taylor got us back to back promotions back to the 2nd tier of english football. How some forget. Brian Clough was no angel ffs. Taylor did what he had to do. Sad though that Peter Taylor and management now go together as well as chalk and cheese. I wish Taylor well though whatever he ends up doing.

Junior Lews really wasnt as bad as people make out. He was average in the division he played in and he played an important role - nothing more, nothing less. It's the same old story of our ****ing moron fans simply HAVING to have a boo-boy target. I hope those thousands that made Damian Delaney cry were proud of themselves.

Actually, I just thought of something - didnt Taylor sign Dawson and convince him to leave Scunny for us?

I was thinking that, who'd be a Hull City manager eh?! It's the same with Deano as well.

I'll always be grateful to Taylor, as with Brown he probably took us as far as he could and it was time to move on, but 2 promotions in 2 years were pretty special.
