I'm sorry but he has been **** and we are playing with ten men. The system doesn't work. We either go 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 with Vaughan in much better. This 4-4-1-1 is simply not working. We looked much better when Sess went off. Mcclean did better in the last 20 mins.
Saha is a class football so why is he on the bench get him upfront, Sess on the wing and McClean on the bench
We need two up front and Gardner pushing on in centre midfield, McClean and Johnson on the wings and drop Sess. For me his head and heart clearly aren't with us anymore, so cash in.
Sess has been rubbish all season and for the latter part of last season, not sure why but he has to sort himself out asap or he could find himself on the bench or even dropped totally. As a team we are not playing as a unit and MONs tactics while probably good with good players just don't suit our lot yet as we aren't that good. Stop this counter attack bullshit and play to our strengths if that means hoof ball then so be it, we were outclassed in the midfield today so why didn't we not just bypass it altogether? a simple solution to a problem that we will encounter for most of this season. We were very lucky today and if not for Tiote going for red I think we would have been well beaten.
Personally, I'd drop McClean AND Sessegnon. Time for a change as its not working and we are merely finding places for players who are simply not performing. I want to see a far more attacking formations and team and until we get the personnel in that can play the system he wants now (namely players with pace) we should adopt a more attacking 4-4-2 imo. My team for Stoke. Mignolet Bardsley, O Shea, Cuellar, Rose Larsson, Gardener, Catts, Johnson Saha, Fletcher Bench: Westwood, Bramble, Colback, Sess, McClean, McFadden, Meyler, Vaughan
Agreed Talc, Also people not prepared to look at O'Neill is very worrying as well. We could be in trouble this season if he doesn't sort it out. Our luck won't hold forever and these draws could well turn into defeats soon.
Will Wickham ever get a game??? Anyway I can understand why O'Neill has stuck with Sess' and Mcclean as they were brilliant in flashes last year but he must thinking of changing it. We looked much better when sess went off and we adopted a 4-4-2 and looked much better. We cannot play through Sess when he's not playing
Sessegnon is the most gifted footballer I have ever see in a Sunderland shirt. Despite this, I agree 100%, he needs a kick square up the arse, and the bench, even one game out of the matchday squad altogether, is the way. If he spits his dummy out about it, he can **** off, if he comes back brighter, then we all win. A player of his abilty, to have done nothing in 8 games, is not a dip in form, it's an attitude issue IMO.
Who will buy him when he's playing like that? He tortured the mags last year in the same fixture, first half anyway. The player playing that day like sess has played this season was Gyan. Worrying. I honestly think we would play better with Gardner in his role.
I think its time Gardner got a chance in midfield, now Bardo is fit he should be given a go. He is much more attack minded than any of the other players we have got in there and he can score goals.
