Obviously he'd love to make the step-up to Newcastle <whistle>, after all being 3rd choice whilst being the leagues top scorer can't be too great, neither can he enjoy the audible sigh from the crowd when he gets the nod over Cheatarito.

He's a readymade goalscorer with 5 years left at the top IMO, and would excel played as a lone striker infront of a Jonas-Arfa-Gervinho attacking 3.

Should we make him an offer he can't refuse?

I love him me, and I'd love him here. The way he idolises Shearer while he was at Newcastle really makes him seem more down to earth to me, and there's a chance that he would like to play here.

Providing he wasn't too expensive for his age, yes please. I think he'd also excel here as he'd be considered a real talent up here and wouldn't be getting preferred over by two other strikers.

AT the RIGHT price(8m-15m maximum) and the RIGHT wages(60k/70k at a push), then a big YES from me.

Was it Berbatov that learnt English by watching the Godfather?

According to his mother in an interview she gave when he was at spurs, she said it was his dream to play as number 9 at Newcastle.

  7. If he agrees to play for 50k wage cap then yes but he's inconsistant and a big gamble with his injury record.

Evidence.. proof? Smith is reportedly earning around the 60k per week figure. Why can't Berbatov exceed that?

  9. Barton, Smith and Nolan are all above that but we're aiming to make new sigings sign below that. That's why Barton is taking a pay cut, and i imagine Nolan would have aswell.

I'm sorry but i don't want to break the wage cap for him.

Smithy will either take a 80% pay cut or **** off.

    YES YES AND YESSSSS

frickin love Berbatov, he's not as lazy as people think - imo anyway, and with Tiote we wouldn't need him tracking back. Kind of defeats the purpose of the loan striker ( think we will end up with this next year, Benny in behind as we were told!!)

I agree, it's just that he makes it look effortless (since he's just that good)

To quote Peep Show, I would literally kill a baby to see him at this club.

Would be amazing but I wouldnt really want to pay over 10 million for him because of his age, still though with the kind of striker he is, he could still be just as good up to about 35. 10 million 5 year deal would suit me down to the ground.

He'd cost too much for his age, and his wages would be extortionately high. If we can sort these things out, then I wouldn't say no.
I'd rather sign a player for a long future though, rather than just the immediate future.

Could always pay him our max wage (if there really is one) but put in appearance bonuses, goal bonuses, assist bonuses, final league position bonuses etc. Can't really see it happening sadly but if you told me a couple of years ago that we'd have Ben Arfa I wouldn't have believed it. Berbatov 9 would look mint on next seasons shirt.

    Isn't Nolan on about 40k?

But yeah, Smith is on 60/70k. They were signed before Cashley implemented a wage cap.

we have Ranger for the future anyway, Berbs could definitely teach him a thing or two, part of the problem with Nile is I don't think he has a great example to follow in training. He's watching Shola and Lovenkrands, as much as they try for the team they're not the best.

Berbs, Best, Ranger. Possibly a loanee or young prospect, ala Wickham

What's happened to Smith this season? Injuries i presume? Mate who is a big manure fan reckons he would do a good job up top...

Injured his ankle and out for the season, and he's cursed to never score for us.

I'd love him here, truly a class player. Obviously we're in dream land as i doubt he would take a huge wage cut when teams on the continent would take him and pay him what he wants.
