He didn't go up front though. He switched to the left wing when Dejagah came on, and we pushed Sidwell up behind Berbatov. In short, we really need Dejagah/Ruiz/Kaca/Frei/Duff fully fit. Our substitutions were crazy yesterday (a CM for a striker, a RW for a LW, then CM for CM) which is why I have to assume that Kaca and Frei weren't match fit.

Just one thing about this. I noticed that when they finished we applauded them and they started chanting "No Respect" at us. I presume that this was because we didn't join in, but was a little uncalled for, I thought, as we did acknowledge their support for Petrov.

Must admit I missed that. I was a bit confused why they were applauding then realised to wards the end of the minute. A lot of people then returned the applause . I didn't hear any chanting after but wasn't really taking too much notice to be honest.

I though he was playing upfront for the last 20min with Dejagah moving over to the left… Regardless of were he was playing he is pretty ineffective.

Dejagah was definitely on the right - my seat is down by the left corner of the Hammersmith End, so I see alot of our right wing. Usually Reither and Duff (our player of the season so far, in my opinion) but Dejagah looked very good in front of me.

Also meant I had a close up for the Riise corner from which Baird scored. The groan turning into a cheer was rather amusing.

I agree afterwards we applauded them, but they started singing something against us, don't even think they bothered to hear us clap, just went into a song derogatory about us.

Game wasn't the greatest, but we did enough to win as they didn't carry much of a threat, they only had 2 shots on goal.
I'd didn't realise Richardson was playing in the first half, I thought he'd come on as sub at the beginning of the 2nd half.
Dejagah looked good for his 20 minutes. The corners from Riise had mostly been poor, so when he put the one over
for Bairds goal, I was half way through cursing him when Chris pop-up.

Sorry Surlyc... Your right. I the second half when we were attacking the Hammersmith end Dejagah as on my left (I sit in H6 so am on the other side of the goal to you) so he would have been on the right! I never was that good with my left and right.<doh>

I know he was only on for 20 min but I was very impressed with him. Do you know why its taken him so long to make is an appearance? Has he been injured?

Totally agree TMHAL. There was a really nice comment posted by one of their fan's on the Villa site -

Just on quotes, I loved this one by jol about Baird's goal -

    There's only one Bairdinho !!

[Reminded me of the one Votzy got late on when we drew with them back in 2006]

Yeah, he has a torn muscle when we signed him. He's just coming back to fitness - I have to say, the return of Diarra and Dejagah (with Ruiz, Duff, Frei and Kaca soon to return) does have me a bit more optimistic. Diarra is of course the key.

Re the Villa thing, I had no idea what they were chanting. It's incredibly hard to hear what visiting fans are chanting when you're in the Hammersmith End. I'd have applauded if I had any clue what they were doing!

Most people around me didn't realise what is was for then someone said it may be for Petrov and we started to clap too. I think it took around a minute for most people to realise what it was all about. Had we known they were going to do it we would have joined in (I know I would have done) so thought it was hash if they took offence.

Agree 100% re Diarra. When he joined us last season I must admin I wasn't too sure about him but he has adapted extremely well to the PL. I'll feel a lot more confident when he is starting again.
