Included Everton going do to 10 men!!! It is really pathetic. What will he come up with next?

And of course Traore and Nelsen not being able to play 90 minutes. Why did he play Nelsen if he couldn't play 90. He was at fault for the goal. Clint would have been best for me but maybe injured, but Ferdinand is fit isn't he? Traore was good and worth his 70 minutes.

Really? You would have preferred Anton Ferdinand? It's not April fool is it? Look at the context of what he was saying? Traore was brilliant for 70 minutes but coming back from injury. the point he made was simply that if both defenders had not run out of steam he might have been able to be more creative with his substitutions. What would you have done given the fact that Everton kept their shape and looking for a win?

Warnock lost most of you because of what you regarded as a kamikaze attitude of throwing everything into attack. Hughes didn't and gets slagged off for it.

Agree. I am not a fan but he picked the right team and formation today. Time to give him a break.

This is all very very tenuous.
I thought BZ lost his man for the goal?

He made his mistakes in the summer. Nothing he can do now other than juggle what he has. He did that well today IMO.

I wish Hughes would quit making these pathetic excuses. If players aren't good enough to play 90 minutes as he says Nelsen wasn't, and he has alternatives which he did, then Nelsen shouldn't have started.

To say Everton went down to 10 men gave us problems must take the biscuit. Perhaps he would have preferred Diakite to have got a second yellow, would have sorted his problem for him.<doh>

He said everton going down to 10 men made them harder to break down because they resorted to plonking two banks of four behind the ball for long spells. Is that untrue?
If we want a consistent back four we'll have to play our first choice players in their positions (i.e. Nelson). Ryan went off after 83 minutes- had it occurred to you that he might've thought he could play the whole game but just came a little short right near the end?
It just sounds like you're scraping around and clutching at anything you can with which to criticise Hughes.

Christ change the record! Everton are 4th and flying this year. It's one of footballs most common things, a team of 10 rise to the occasion as everyone runs their socks off! Good game, couple of great saves by Howard, s stunning block by jagielka I think. Good performance and deserve our support.

Unbelievably someone starts a thread slating Hughes again. Traore and Nelson unable to play 90 mins but you single out criticism at Nelsons inclusion because he was 'at fault for the goal' but was happy at Traores performance so not criticism there. Easy to say now after the game that one shouldn't have played but the other should. And asking for Ferdinand to play instead? Really? We played good today, outside of some shoddy defending from set pieces, against a top 4 team on a great run. Some people just cannot stop blaming Hughes for everything that happens now.

Sitting on the fence with Hughes to be honest, heard an interesting thing by jimmy armfield on the radio on the way back though, apparently ( just apparently) he had a conversation with someone within rangers and Hughes had today or arsenal to win before a managerial change.....only passing on what was said on the radio

Good game I thought. Despite all our efforts we just couldn't stick the ball in their net. I thought we did well against a good solid professional Everton side. Howard played a blinder.

    Who was Motm btw?

I'd be surprised if anybody set arsenal away as a must win to keep your job game! Reading / Southampton maybe!

    Abso friggin' lutely.

The players we need for a chance of reaching our potential, i.e. key defender(s) and goal scoring striker, we simply do not have atm.

I thought jagielka was MOTM, which says a lot.
For us it was probably Granero

I reckon Cisse could have come on for Zamora a bit earlier.Zamora looked a bit flimsy and whats with the 'Nygaard no jump' thing he does...Soo much better, defensively and in the middle, pace out wide and full backs who are comfortable with the ball at there feet.Hoillet/Granero looked good and for a second I thought Hoiletts curling shot was going in!..Just need someone stronger up top.Inichabe looked a huge!. I think we have found our team now(not convinced on Zamora though). Well done boys and we looked good and not just for 10 minutes or so...
