I dont understand where you get the idea that I hate your club?. I dont care if its your club, Chelsea, Ipswich or whoever the point I am making is that the game in question involved a lot more people than the one who attacked Kirkland (A hell of a lot more). It had been building up all game, and yes your fans should be banned as ours should if ours behaved in the same manner. Your fans acted like idiotic thugs for most of the game abd should be punished accordingly.

Of course I don't, because the numbers you've suggested all thread are ridiculous. And if you think whole groups of fans should be banned for distasteful chanting there would be empty stadia up and down the country.

    'One Jimmy Savile'
    'Jimmy Savile's ****ing innocent'
'He's Jimmy Savile, he shags who he wants'
    'Dave Jones is a *****phile'
    'Murderers, murderers' (at SYP)

All of those things were chanted last night in my presence, and I'm not ashamed of that fact.

The lad who ran on the pitch and hit Kirkland, I think he will look back on that in years to come and feel immature and embarrassed, but it was still hugely overreacted to by Dave Jones, the media and (sadly) the football-supporting community. Idiot yes, but does he really deserve a lengthy prison sentence for a shove in the face of intermediate force? Just because cameras and thousands were around him, doesn't mean it's objectively worse than another player doing it during a corner, or than someone doing it on a Saturday night in town.

People need to get a grip really. That's Leeds' away support, and I hope it never changes. Marching on together. I think the same about the proud and passionate supporters you have at Stoke. Good luck to 'em.

Let's not be defeatists and make football the same as following an American sport where everyone waves foam hands and has friendly banter with the rival fans sat next to them. Leave that for the pub before the game; furious desire is what OUR sport is all about. :D

oh dear, this post says more than I ever could. What a state to get in when you have to chant *****philic chants because you are not intelligent enough to come up with other songs. This thread has gone as far as it should, can someone please close this thread?

No, because alcohol was consumed, spirits were heated and there was an entirely ironic subtext to all those songs.

Except the SYP one, which the ****s deserve.

I`ve resisted commenting on this thread until now . I have some sympathy with Simons point of view, because we know what it`s like to all be `tarred with the same brush`, but as ricc has just pointed out when someone like Exodus comes on justifying these foul chants it says it all really. What have any of them got to do with football for goodness sake? I , like ricc, would not take my kids near a football match these days, and yes, I would much prefer the atmosphere to be like an American football match than to listen to thousands shouting effing and worse in unison. We have become a very yobbish society and I hate the way it has gone.

Im not trying to tarr all of the fans with the same brush, but the volume at which the chants were sung it HAD to be a very high percentage of them singing it. My kids will NEVER go near a football match until they are old enough to go by themselves and then its up to them.

And yes Joe I totally agree with the way that you say society is going, and for Exodus to defend their actions by saying "alcohol was consumed, spirits were heated" is ridiculous.
