we were brilliant mate and should have been 2 up at half time with Scholes sent off, awesome performance and it was good to hear TP shouting"keep the ball", we are definately on the up!

Yes PP we did play well and I`ve got to admit we are now a totally different team to what we were before the last transfer window. I have been very critical of TP, but I can now see clearly how we are evolving. I also liked his comments when interviewed by radio Stoke with regards his more direct style, All these sideways passing and then back to the goalkeeper moves a la`England` I find` mind numbingly` boring. Ok , I don`t like `hoofball` either, but there are definite signs of a good combination of a more direct approach involving PASSING!

Glad to here we played well I mssed the game and had to rely on match of the day which doesn't always give an unbiased view, I must admit I was concerned with Whitehead being on the pitch as he can make the odd rash challenge. What I would like to know is what position Walters is playing in, is he being used to break up opposition play from the midfield or as a striker or what?

I think the lads were brilliant ..
Kept rubbin me eyes ...was this stoke ..
caught bus back to centre of manc and was listenin to comments nice and quietly from there fans ...
manc fans couldnt believe it was stoke they played cuz of the football we played " what a different team they are now "
i think all bodes well for the future fingers crossed
My only thoughts again were where does mr Owen fit in cuz hes an out and out goalscorer not midfielder ?
did anybody see the corner he flicked on it was goal bound and de gea wud not of smelt it but for a deflection that was nt seen pity !! no corner given ......
wud of made quite a story i really thought we played well but i suppose ms rooney and persie on the day were special indeed . that was the only diff me thinx !!
anyways a good away day done and dusted and we lost lols

We are playing a 4-2-3-1 with kightly and waters wide and Adam in the middle - I have no issues with the formation, just Walters on the right! Kightly is right footed so ringtone could play the left and he could play on the right. There is also that others stokie wide man - pennant?

Yep, I saw Owen flick that ball towards goal and it was defo going in, should have been a corner but hey, IF Utd fans are saying that too, can't be bad. Let's look forward to next weekend fellas. KTF

These next few games may give us a better idea of how much we have improved, I am slightly concerned about the amount of goals we are conceding but most of that could be down to the strength of opposition. Think we can pick up some points and fancy we will be over the 20 points before new year. Hopefully "that man" won't sell any key players come January.

I think that is the key point mate. We started last season very well against the bigger clubs and faded badly against teams we should have been beating week in week out. It apperas that we are playing much better but as good as we were in the fist half an houir at OT we are stll failing to creat clear goal scoring opportunities and when we do we dont seem to be clinical enough in front of goal.

I'm struggling to see how/why we are still acommodating Walters week in week out when we have better wingers and strikers within the squad and I worry how we are realistically going to fit Owen into our line up. At the moment if Crouch gets injured or suspended our system will fail. Whilts we have played some tough opposition and been spirited in our performances we are still only averaging 1 goal per game and our failure to notch up 3 or 4 against a woeful Swansea team at home leads me to suspect that we will continue to struggle this term in front of goal.

    Smithers,

Hopefully we will create more chances and hopefully they won't all fall to Walters, I rate him as a worker but a finisher he isn't.

He's a role player, always has been and always will be! Can't take anything away from the lad but TP is sacrificing playing better players to accommodate him and it will cost us points over the season!

I think it has cost us goals this season already, but we are not the team we were last year, there are more goals in us and we are playing good football.

I said this when Owen signed, IFwe get enough balls in the box, Crouch we know can win the ball, it drops and how many times have we all said. We need a goal scorer in there with him, a poacher? That is exactly why I think TP should give Owen a start this weekend.. Cameo sub is NOT right IMO. IF Owen can't play 90 mins why not start him and I'm sure he'll do more damage i.e. goals threat than coming on for the last 10/15 mins.. if you don't try TP we'll never know.

He has the option of subbing Owen and bringin on fresh legs.. Walter's? Jerome? etc.

    Potts,

If i ever get to the stage when I can predict what "that man" is going to do i'll have my head looked at!! but I agree that Owen needs more time on the pitch than putting him on for the adverts, just wondering if "that man" is thinking of playing him off Kenwynne in the cup.

As Smither's said it's pts we need IMO not a cup run, for me that would be a bonus and I really hope to see Owen start a game soon. No reason I can see why he can't play up front with Crouch. Then again, it's tp so like you Jowler I would be amazed if he ever does that.

    Potts,

Just speculating on what goes through "that man's" head, we have the chance with our current crop to do well this year putting Owen on the pitch should get us more goals, even if he doesn't score them he can pull the defence around to create more gaps to exploit.

I was one of those who was not too interested in us signing Owen, however, he would give us more options up front and is a proven goalscorer and we need goals. We seem to have been playing quite well but more goals would mean more points. TP needs to begin selecting Owen in his starting line-up for reasons mentioned earlier in this thread. Owen is not goiing to want to spend all his time here on the bench or he will want away and there will have been no point in signing him. At home vs Sunderland is the ideal game to start him IMO

Totally agree, why not start him,try and establish a lead, then when he tires , bring on the workhorse that is Walters to maintain it!!
