Yaya can and has played at DM at a much much higher level than Arteta has ever done or ever will.
He was a regular DM at Barcelona something Areteta has never had ability to achieve, just becasue Yaya doesnt play there now doesnt mean he has suddenly lost it. He still has all the attributes to be the best DM around if he played there

Yeah but he is not a DM. Stop doing a Garth Crooks. Play players in the positions they are currently playing. Yaya is the best CM in this league by a mile and so you need to play him there in order to get the best out of him and in the best interest of your team.

 

You've got to remember, on current form, and with a sensible manager (Del Bosque picks his favourites), Arteta would make the spain squad. He's outplaying Busquets at least.

 

He is a DM as he can play there, he is also a CM and an AM. You said that Arteta is better which is wrong as it is most certainly not and never will be. Most of the time Toure does not play in an attacking role for Man City, Due to this you can see all of the defensive attributes that he has, he is a great at tackling, marking, he is strong, good in the air and can pass.

How is he a DM? He has not played that role in any of the games he has played for City. Also, the original comment was that Arteta was the best DM in the PL at the moment. Is Yaya a DM at the moment? No.

 

Xavi is not a DM. Martinez would be used as a CB. And Busquets is a bit ****e this season.

 

I dont care if he isnt playing DM at the min. top players are capable of playing many positions, all the player I metioned can and would play DM at a much higher level than Arteta

Of course, if he played there he would be. The best player is judged by how good someone is not if hey are playing in that position currently or not. I'll give you an example and if any of you can disagree then i would be amazed. Is Messi the best striker in the world? yes. Is he the best right midfield in the world? yes. Does he play in both these positions?no. anyone disagree?

Not really point. If you were picking a PL best eleven, then why would you pick Yaya as a DM when he is best position is as a CM? He has the most influence in there and by playing him as a DM, you take away most of his attacking threat. If you play a balanced and normal team, then Yaya plays as a CM. A position that he has made his own in recent times.

 

Of course he can, if someone is the best they will still be the best at it even if they are playing in a different position. So what you are saying is that being the best isnt actually about being the best it's about actually playing in that position? Dont be silly that is not how it works. If someone is the best at something, they are the best regardless of if they are doing it right now or out.
