MARK HUGHES DOES NOT FEAR FOR QPR JOB QPR boss Mark Hughes Saturday October 20,2012 By Simon Yeend Have your say(0) HARRY REDKNAPP is out of work. Queens Park Rangers are bottom of the Premier League. You do the maths, as they say. But the sums do not add up, insists QPR boss Mark Hughes, who says he is not worried about former Tottenham manager Redknapp and that his own skills are a match for the best. Hughes, though, knows he needs victories, and quickly, to make the speculation disappear. âIâm not nervous about Harry,â said Hughes. âI know how well I work. I know what my staff do on a daily basis. Iâd put my ability up against anyone. âI donât think we are talking in those terms about me fighting to save my job. I understand the reasons why we are where we are. The focus on us is not going to go away until we start winning games; we understand that. We cannot change that until we start winning. So why worry?â The visit of high-flying Everton tomorrow is not a game anyone would handpick in this situation, but Hughes is confident his team will not repeat the mistakes of recent matches, when they have been guilty of conceding early soft goals. I know how well I work. I know what my staff do on a daily basis. Iâd put my ability up against anyone QPR boss Mark Hughes âEverton are a great side but weâre the home side and we have to make sure weâre positive and we defend correctly, which has been our Achilles heel in recent times,â he said. âWe have given away goals. But I sense leading into this game that wonât be the case. We look really strong, really focused and weâve done good work as a group, so we expect to see the benefit of that. âLast season our home form is what kept us up. Weâve got to replicate that and get the same intensity and the same ability to get the crowd behind us, get that momentum which we had a big wave of last year. âWe have not recreated that yet this season. Once we do that then everybody understands that Loftus Road is a really difficult place for teams to come.â Hughes has been unfortunate with injuries and has been unable to pick the same back-four for consecutive games this season. But his squad is almost back to full strength and Hughes is confident results will go their way soon. âOnce we have that continuity of selection then we can produce good football,â he said. âItâs only a matter of time. Ideally it will happen this weekend going up against Everton. âTheyâre playing well, but I feel that if we donât give them any encouragement and get our noses in front, we can take the game from them.â Hughes still has the backing of chairman Tony Fernandes and said he aims to repay such faith. âWe all want to do well for Tony and all the shareholders because they made a huge investment and itâs our job to make sure he gets the return on that,â he said. âWeâre all very positive in terms of what weâre trying to do with the club and where weâre going to take it. âItâs been a little difficult but we discussed this before the season started. We said there may be a possibility this might occur but weâll have to come through it. âOver the length of the very long and difficult Premier League season weâll be in good shape. Initially we did flag up we might struggle, but once we get settled thatâll change very quickly.â There is one subject that Hughes is hoping to finally put to bed â the John Terry race row with Anton Ferdinand. Hughes says Ferdinand has been unaffected on the pitch by the year-long saga. Asked if the player is now looking forward to moving on, Hughes replied with a weary: âI think everybody is.â
Christ talk about pointing out the obvious mark. It'll have to be our home form that keeps us up as our away form is abysmal! Currently both home and away are terrible
You've been confident for 3 months now Mark. There comes a time when words mean absolutely f*** all. Actions Mark, actions.
Getting rid of Hughes now would be a disaster. A new manager would mean a new style of play ergo more new players if the current ones aren't adaptable. I quite like Hughes, he has a good manner about him, and we are playing better football under him, we just need a rub of the green on a few occasions. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'd rather 3 draws over 1 win and 2 defeats. It's still tight at the bottom, I don't want to be too good to go down, rather, deservedly stayed up. Just because 'arrys out of a job, does not mean we should contemplate replacing Hughes.
Well he really should be if he can't make a start on getting the job done, or maybe TF will realize that the emperor does indeed have no clothes.
It doesn't but... Hughes is deeply deluded regarding his own abilities and importance. If he ****s up with us that's his dodgy managerial career finally consigned to the trash.
So it is Hughes' best interest to consign SWrongP to the Shepherd's Bush Roundabout and if he plays Park stick him on the right to keep Baines at bay!
