Fines wont work, they have to hurt the club and the only way to do that is deduct points. While its harsh on the playing team, its the only way to stop it happening in the future. A fine and banning order clearly dont work.
But it wouldn't stop it happening in the future. This is an isolated incident where one idiot decided he wanted to act the hard man. Lock the twat up and be done with it.
Its not an isolated incident, Leeds fans were ripping up seats and throwing them about. Its an isolated incident if its Fulham, Norwich or Sunderland, its not an isolated incident if its Leeds, Millwall, Cardiff, Stoke, etc.
Well then why not make Wednesday play all games behind closed doors for "Always look out for Turks carrying knives"? It would be a ridiculously heavy handed punishment.
Because Wednesday fans didn't get on the pitch and attack the opposition goalkeeper. Maybe a points deduction wouldn't be right. A game or two without any away fans maybe, but then that hurts the home club financially.
I can't see how a points deduction would be fair. Its not the fault of the players/club/majority of the fans that one idiot fan would do that. I remember all the vile posts about us getting a points deduction (yes some from Leeds fans as well) and wouldn't want to see our fans going down that road and being like them. The best that can happen is give him a life ban and stick him in prison for 6 months and that should put a stop to future incidents happening (but then again it is Massive Leeds we are talking about)?
What about Leeds fans signing about Jones? The whole thread is about the violence which was totally 1 sided from a set of fans that has a long history of moronic behaviour.
No, they just chucked flairs on to the pitch and pelted our supporters with coins. Banning fans from away games wouldn't "stop" this, as this is the first time this has happened in as long as I can remember.
Its happened to us when we played at stoke. They got off with nothing while we got a fine for having our players defend our goalie who was having punches thrown at him.

Leeds fans are 2nd only to Man U in arrests of fans.
OBJECTION Disappointing commentary there Ellers⦠Defamatory tbh and contradictory even. In one breath you note that words (and presumably contexts) such as âmuppetâ and âvaselineâ are tame compared to others you read on here. I agree on this point. We all see much worse words used on this board than those. And do you know what? I cannot remember our mods ever pulling anyone for something we personally find dubious or even offensive in any way. Yet in your next breath you accuse mods of being âPCâ policemen! Not only grossly inaccurate but also derogatory, hence the strength of my objection. If you think we spend our time as some sort of human searchlight, scanning the threads and posts for politically inappropriate terms, youâre off your head mate. Not only do we have no time for such pettiness, nor would any of us be so inclined. Weâre long time football fans ffs! Seen and heard it all in our time - and still here without so much as a feather ruffled. We take the beast for what it is and not what we personally think it should be. If we âpoliceâ anything on here, itâs COMPLAINTS MADE BY USERS either openly in posts or otherwise in PMs and thatâs about it. Our other functions are far more mundane: merging similar threads, stickies, liaising with site management etc. etc.. Sure our rules (as determined by the site and the law of the land) focus on the âismsâ relating to respect for others but in case you hadnât noticed, we donât spring into action the minute we see the words âold ****â, âblack ****â or whatever. Check the 'Joke' thread (still running and uncensored) or ask Beth how often faux pas made against women on here go without challenge let alone sanction. Fact is, despite DT's ridiculous assertions to the contrary, we mods see to it that 'free speech' is as available on this board as its users allow. We've never given it like weâre the moral guardians but simply a check and balance when someone sees the need to complain or raise an issue. Letâs hope this clarifies the principles governing our role, if not for you then for others similarly misinformed.
Can I asked if you were calling for Carlisle, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield fans to be banned from going away? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leeds_united/8041873.stm http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...dersfield-fans-mob-Leeds-player-play-win.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8507503.stm http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...ted-the-Owls-to-League-One-article413647.html
Carlisle, Millwall, Chelsea and of course Leeds have a a far right racist history support wise. Same elsewhere: Real Madrid, Valencia, Lazio, Verona, PSG and so on... Nothing special in being supported by a bunch of fascist bastards although personally I wouldn't want to associate myself with such scum.
It's an element we've by and large got rid of in my personal experience, but you can't get rid of every last scummy hanger on. Although I do find it funny we're called fascists by some clubs' supporters and yids by others.
To be fair to Leeds ( and I am no fan) most of the fans on their forum are more pissed off than the rest of us, good for them in this case. I wish I could 100% say it couldn't happen at LR, we have some idiots as well.
