Yeah bye mate, speak Tomorrow, Have fun at the game, Shame I can't go this week, well pissed off, But the boss said I have to work due to it being shut today.
Morning Gills fans and other guests please log in to view this image MATCH DAY - hopefully the lads will get part the job done today and take the 3 points. Topics for discussion... Gills Can Wycombe win at Bury? How will Stevenage do at Northampton?
good morning to you gills and good luck for today,i am off to bury soon lets hope we are both happy with our results today
Rocky - Good luck, could do with your lads winning at Bury today (no draw please) & my lot obviously doing the same against Macclesfield - would mean Gills final day against Chesterfield, we could afford to share the points. All talk though on my part, let's see what's happened on the pitch by 5pm this evening.
What happened again? 8 goals now conceded in the last two home games. Did not like the team that Hessy put out, however, in fairness it was the same team that beat Rotherham away and took 3 points, wasn't it? Last week I watched Barnet's number 23 McLeod tear through us, today I had to watch Macclesfield's number 23 Barnett, rip Richards to bits! So that is Gowling & Richards who both seem to be unable to keep hold of their man, what way forward for the Gills in that department? Lawrence has made mistakes during previous games but at least he is experienced, generally solid at the back. Barcham appeared to be playing out of position today, although Martin was Man of the Match, I just believe him and Barcham don't seem to cut it together. Hessy brings a disappointed Barcham off after about 30mins, not sure why, however, tactically appeared all wrong. Rooney came on as sub, probably making more effort than anyone to strike on goal. Cody, missed two sitters, when he has an off day or an unlucky one that did not go his way, the result reflects it. All season I've been saying, please stop hoofing those balls forward, I know the tactical plan with Bayo, apart from that our forwards just watch constantly has it goes over their heads to the opposing defenders. If we want to play those tactics, we don't need Cody or Rooney but a couple of giant forwards. When Macclesfield came forward at us today, even if it was against the run of play, it was comical how easy they just cut straight through us - why have we had the inability to do that, in our last two home games, why are we allowing it to happen to us? Pre season without doubt, we are going to need to have a serious look at this team and the size of our squad, dare I say to much choice, not enough quality. All just my opinion.
Their 23 was cutting Richards to pieces, however, had Sinclair decided to come back and defend even once, Richards might have had an easier time. We were tactically inept today as last week, the full backs go forward because our midfield is so poor, but nobody drops in too cover. If you play with a 2 man defense you will always ship goals. Barcham came off because he was struggling with his ankle.
grumpygit - thanks for clarify that situation between Richards & Sinclair, no tactician myself, although it was clearly obvious there was a problem in that department. IMO Barcham is my first player on the team, did not realise he had a problem, just knew he looked disappointed.
Yeah I believe our best Midfield is probably Barcham, Weston, Payne and Spiller But we could go and put Payne in either Left back or Right Back and then play Maher in midfield and I believe that as the best option.
Rooney did a good job when he came on, difference is when he was coming down the left, it was like watching a younger version of Barcham, however, Rooney appears to try to take it in to the centre of the box, whereas Barcham would go down the edge of it, cross it in or seek the corner - not sure what the best option is there out of the two? Someone told me today, that game played ratio, that Rooney has more shots on target than Cody?
I would tend to agree with Barcham's style of play, however, once you take it to the back four...erm - I'm thinking dwarfs again! No that's unkind, I tell you what I would like to see though, Lawrence come in to the box, there be no messing with him - now grumpy will probably tell me off for leaving us open at the back
Well by what you are saying you are looking for a big Midfielder or striker to pair with Bayo, The long ball would benefit from another tall one.
Yeah, your probably right but like I say, I'm no tactician. How can I knock it though, Cody has got what...25/26 goals this season, with our current style of play. See this is why I wanted Rene Howe, not a goal scorer in all honesty but at 6ft, could make something of those high balls, although Bayo what is he 6ft 1 ? Something wrong with my logic there
I think it may be best to stick to having one tall like Bayo and one smaller one as it always works well for many teams.
