Hi all, I've just read this interview with Reubens Barichello, and it posed some interesting questions, so without further ado, does anyone have any thoughts on the questions he was asked: 1) Where in the world would you have a new F1 race (existing track or otherwise)? 2) If you were an F1 driver, which driver, of any era, would you want as a teammate? 3) What new innovation would you introduce to F1? Any old technologies you'd like back? 4) Which circuit would you choose to drive, if you could only ever drive one? 5) What 3 corners from existing tracks would you want in a new circuit of your own design? Do you have any other ideas you'd like including in a circuit? 6) If you could compete in any decade of F1, when would you choose? 7) Which 2 drivers from history would you like to see battle it out on track? 8) Which 2 current drivers would you like to see in the same team? 9) Which 4 motorsport figures would you invite to a dinner party? (There are others, but I couldn't think how to reword them into suitable questions!) So what do you all think?
1) Africa 2) Ayrton Senna 3) Refuelling and Traction Control 4) Melbourne, Australia 5) Turn 1 Australia, Eau Rouge, Turn 11/12 Australia 6) Current Decade 7) Senna, Prost 8) Hamilton and Vettel 9) Vettel Hamilton Bernie Senna
1) Jura. 2) Pedro Diniz. 3) Automatic windscreen wipers. 4) Sao Paolo. 5) 3. 7. and 4. 6) the 20s 7) Hamilton and Vettel 8) Hamilton and Button 9) Lee McKenzie, Tanya from German Sky TV, Sonja Irvine, Corinna Schumacher
Good post 1) Where in the world would you have a new F1 race (existing track or otherwise) Argentina, Autódromo Juan y Oscar Gálvez, they need a new Fangio. 2) If you were an F1 driver, which driver, of any era, would you want as a teammate? Jim Clark, could learn so much from him. 3) What new innovation would you introduce to F1? Any old technologies you'd like back? Fan engine, damn GT5 4) Which circuit would you choose to drive, if you could only ever drive one? Spa-Francorchamps, end of. 5) What 3 corners from existing tracks would you want in a new circuit of your own design? Do you have any other ideas you'd like including in a circuit? Pouhon, 130R, Ascari. 6) If you could compete in any decade of F1, when would you choose? 1960's, lotus'... 7) Which 2 drivers from history would you like to see battle it out on track? Clark, Senna. 8) Which 2 current drivers would you like to see in the same team? Vettel, Di resta, lets see who is better now 9) Which 4 motorsport figures would you invite to a dinner party? Murray Walker, Adrian Newey, Jackie Stewart and Charley Whiting.
My only contribution would be : if only it were possible. 9) Murray Walker, Graham Hill, James Hunt, Stirling Moss.
1) Austria, A1-Ring 2) Yuji Ide - I want to stand a chance of beating the teammate 3) V10's, smaller front wings 4) Spa 5) Eau Rouge, Turn 8 Istanbul, Blanchimont 6) Current decade 7) Fangio vs Clark 8) Hamilton, Vettel 9) Alonso, Button, Brundle, Luca Di Montezemolo
I suppose I'd better answer my own questions... 1) As Carno said, I'd like to see a race in Africa, the old South African track at Kyalami (pre-safety conscious changes) was very good, so I'd love to see this recreated but with the proper run-off areas, etc. Equally, with the money in F1, they should be able to subsidise a race in a 'poorer' country to try and get more people interested in the sport. I'd also like to see a Scandinavian country get a grand prix, especially Finland. They love motorsport there, so why not? 2) I guess this depends if you want a team-mate to push you or make you look good! In the former instance, I'd have liked someone like Damon Hill, Jim Clarke or Mika Hakkinen, or in the latter maybe someone like Yuji Ide? The only driver I can think of who was so bad his super-license was revoked. (Jose- looks like we had the same thought at the same time, I didn't see your post til I'd finished this!) 3) I'd like to see less reliance on aerodynamics, maybe with super-grippy tyres? Other than that, I'd quite like more freedom in the rules for teams to develop their cars in different directions. 4) Spa-Francorchamps, no question! 5) Counting Radillon and Eau Rouge as one corner, that, 130R at Suzuka and the corkscrew from Lacuna-Seca, theres many other contenders though! Becketts, Istanbul's turn 8 and the Parabolica to name a few. Other that that I'd just like to see really challenging corners! 6)Would have to be the current era, safest and with a very high quality grid. 7)Tough one, Schumacher vs Fangio? Clark vs Senna? 8) Kubica with any of the top drivers really, probably Vettel. 9) They've been said before, but Murray Walker would be fascinating, Adrian Newey also. Then Mika Hakkinen and Michael Schumacher
A bit Ferrari-orientated, but here goes! 1. Jersey (we have a 5 mile straight down the west of the island!) 2. Barrichello, he seems like a great bloke and he has so much experience. 3. Radio in the cars! 4. Monza 5. Eau Rouge, 130R and the hairpin in Monaco 6. Now 7. Schumacher (when he was good) v Vettel 8. Schumacher with Kobayashi 9. Massa, Schumacher, Senna (not Bruno!), Barrichello
Good thread. 1) Potrero de los Funes Circuit - http://img148.imageshack.us/f/106br0.jpg/ - http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2008/11/...here-portero-de-los-funes-san-luis-argentina/ Also Nordschleife. 2) Senna, best yardstick. 3) Manual gearboxes 4) Current circuit - Spa, any circuit Nordschleife. 5) Eau Rouge/Pouhon, 130R, Piscine. (Could easily change) 6) 80s 7) Senna and Fangio 8) Hamilton and Vettel/Alonso 9) Senna, Enzo Ferrari, Jack Brabham/Colin Chapman, Stirling Moss/James Hunt.
It is not my home town (although if anybody is from Sheffield there could be an epic bit down Highcliffe Road and the wiggly bit at the bottom) but I have always thought that they could do an immense route for a F1 race around Rio. It could be along Copacabana/Ipanema and around Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
1) The Arctic 2) I would say Schumacher (but he would stamp on my face)/ so Rosberg because he us underrated 3) Manual Gear-box 4) Nurburgring Nordschleife 5) Turkey Turn 8- Spa Eau Rouge- Suzuka 130r 6) The 90's 7) Schumacher vs Senna 8) Schumacher and Hamilton 9) Schumacher - Hamilton - Ross Brawn - Hakkinen
