Ascot ground latest: Stickels update"It walked a lot easier yesterday afternoon, now it's soaked through a bit. I don't think we'll be bottomless and by this afternoon I think it'll be soft a soft surface but I don't think it'll bad racing surface Stickles !!!!!!!!! is that what the RP call him mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Cheers ROTO! If it comes up soft at Catterick as well he will have a mighty chance each way amd at 14/1 I will be having some. Kevin Ryan turned around the late MURURA similarly last year and I think Jedwarr has improvement left.
Right I've had a quick look at Cheltenham and here are the fancies: 2.00 I'm not a fan of Rendl Beach - I think the race he won at Fontwell was very, very ordinary and I am taking him on with Talkonthestreet whose form behind Ambion Wood at Perth has a much more solid look about it. I think Hobbs is looking to pick up a couple of early season races while the horse is still entitled to run as a novice and I think he can take this and we'll see him reappear before the end of the month. 2.30 Ultra-competitive handicap chase where Hendersons Nadiya De La Vega has been given a chance by the handicapper and AP rides. But I prefer the other McManus horse, Finger On The Pulse. He goes really well around Cheltenham, having won the Jewson in 2008, finished 6th in the Plate in 2009 and 7th in the same race this year. He ran off 144 in the Plate and goes off 135 today after 3 poor runs since and I think they may have been aiming him at this. 3.05 A small, high quality field and a very difficult race to assess. Both Dodging Bullets and Baby Mix are strong travellers who haven't really done the business when push has come to shove in top class races and I'm sure both will have bigger targets this season. The mare Hi Note may be able to take advantage but no bet in this race for me. 3.40 Balthazar King has an excellent record when fresh (won 5/9 after a 60 day break) and still looks reasonably treated off 139. 4.20 A speculative selection - Malcolm Jefferson's Hi George has his first crack at a handicap off a mark of 121. Over at Ascot I'm going to risk a small e/w wager on Rite Of Passage in the opener - a very high class horse who I am really looking forward to seeing again. It will be a massive ask to win this, but at 8/1 I think he is a decent e/w shout. Best of luck to everyone
Am off to Ascot today. Currently on route. Bit of a trek from Manchester but worth it to see Bullet Train run! Lol. Cannot wait. Nice day to. I'll post my fancies when studied so everyone else knows what not to back. Have a great day all.
Bet of the day - Willie Carson to call Fame And Glory "Flame And Glory" anyone want to give me a price ? does it every time without fail
Frankel pushed out to evens with Hills 10000 bets at £10 price released at 155pm!!! What do they know? <erm>
Cheers RV, was tuck between that and Society Rock, I don't know much about Slade Power. My knowledge of the irish scene isn't what it should be.
