Leeds fans seem to have found him already. However, he is not intelligent enough to make his Facebook private: http://www.facebook.com/Leedsvbates
Hmm, I would say that's a very angry man. He's not known for going over the top and is usually the calmest of football people. Having seen the incident, I can see why he's so angry. He's talking about casual violence with no repercussions for it, and there's a lot of it about in football crowds. However, I would certainly have stopped short at accusing every Leeds fan of being a vile animal. It's easy to condemn from a distance, as we are not personally involved or wrapped up in the emotion of the moment. One thing's for sure. That lad's card is marked from now on.
Yes and on the Leeds 606 they are blaming the Hillsborough stewards for the whole thing, unbelievable.
He seems to have deleted his Facebook account, and I'm sure his number will be deactivated pretty soon. He's probably under arrest by now. Now that I know he's a repeat offender, I reckon he might get a couple of months in jail.
To Simon21-LUFC QUOTE: Where's the bloody police at Hillsborough to prevent people from getting on the pitch? QUOTE: My thoughts as well, what were the stewards doing, there was at least 3 blokes on the pitch then the ****** went to Kirkland [There were a couple of others but they have either been deleted, edited or I missed them this time around] This guy must be the most unpopular bloke on the planet right now, but watching the game some fans were laughing with him and patting him on the back. I guess that 99% of Leeds Fans are decent people, but there is an element that only they can really ensure that they cannot continue to besmirch a Club that has had it's problems in the recent past, but that I thought were on the way back to greatness. We play you on October 30th I just hope that you keep the peace at that fixture.
They also have to look at themselves for allowing someone to run up to Kirkland, still don't see where we're "blaming" the security.
In hindsight I am thinking now, that there was an element of fault there too, they must have known that it was likely to happen, so it does seem strange that they didn't react quickly enough to prevent the assault. Whatever, it is all very unsavoury and will not do your Club any favours. Dave Jones was a very angry man and did go over the top somewhat, but I suppose he had good reason. It's a pity that a very good goal will be forgotten because of other events.
The assault was the main reason for Jones' anger, but there was something else as well. The Leeds fans were chanting and he remarked he'd put up with it for 12 years, so I would guess it's about the untrue *****phile charges. This repeat offender needs some gaol time. It was a disgrace that he had so much support in the crowd. Thoroughly horrible individual.
Have to disagree with you there. I think a custodial sentence is appropriate. If he is let off with anything less I fear it could set a precedent to the return of behaviour that made fencing a necessity in the bad old days of the late 70s up to the Hillsborough tragedy.
well spotted Fran. He mentions the chanting a couple of times. The comments about the policing and the stewards sharing some blame, is nonsense. Whether they should or could have done anything to stop it, doesn't take a single percentage of blame away from the Leeds fans that went on the pitch. Imbeciles. Sorry Simon, you can not redirect any blame. It's like saying it's ok to try and attack someone because someone should be there to stop you.
Just watched this on Youtube and the sad thing is how thrilled the fans around him looked! Takes us back 30 years.
The worst part of that is that the guy thinks he is a hero for doing that. Absolute scum, he should never be let near a football stadium in his lifetime again. He obviously got caught up in all the 'excitement' of the fans running on the pitch and has no idea how far is too far- Idiot! Having said that, I am not too sure that Kirkland had to stay down for quite so long! Here's a better video of the incident though:
Sounds like a pretty violent affair all round. Chairs being thrown, advertising hoardings knocked down and apparently Botthroyd was hit by a missile after his goal. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...nes-brands-Leeds-supporters-vile-animals.html
I'm not "redirecting blame", but the question does still need to be asked about how he got on, and then off, the pitch in the first place. I don't know a single Leeds fan who was there who saw it happen, everyone seems to be forgetting the incident happened during the celebration of a goal.
Does that actually matter..? Yes, it the responsibility of stewards to stop people getting onto the pitch, but what about the fan's own built-in sense of what is allowed and what is not allowed, to happen inside a football ground..? Are we to expect stewards to be responsible for every fan's inclination to get onto a football pitch at any time of their choosing..? I know a cheaper way of dealing with this. It's called fencing. We don't want to go back to that, do we..?
