They must have thought there was more chance that he was hiding incriminating evidence than the others.
They did indeed. United have had the harshest punishments in football tbf. Rio, Rooney banned for a red in a friendly/Swearing, Fergies numerous touchline bans. Like 5 games and more at a time. The FA tend to use us to make examples. Similar offences get far more lenient punishment if any at all Oh and Rhubadub............ They set an example with Rio.......... Just like they did with Suarez.
Its almost certain he had taken nothing. He took a test shortly after and passed. Sure theres 1 or 2 substances that can leave the body prior quickly but if they were so adamant then he could of had his hair tested Just the FA making an example of a United player. Quite common
I agree with Roberts. The leniency shown towards Rio, found 'guilty' by the FA of the same charge as Suarez and Terry, stinks of discrimination towards some players based upon race. I. for one, will not be wearing my Kick It Out T-shirt this weekend either.
Placing your hands on a police officer is assault. Smashing him in the face is assault. Are you clever enough to understand the difference between the same crime?
The police actually have their own definitions. Assault of a constable or something like that. Also assault with intent to resist arrest. Theres a few variations. GBH is more serious isnt it, like just before attempted murder or something. Repeatedly smashing the bobby in the face would be GBH wouldnt it?
Extent and degree. But I wouldn't be potificating upon the evils of assaulting the police had I even placed my hands on a copper and been found 'guilty' of that offence. Rio has been found guilty of 'racism' (without even having the excuse that he was conversing in another language on the instigation of the 'victim', using a phrase that isn't normally seen as insulting in that language), but still sees himself as the oracle on all things racist. Bit like Gary Glitter calling Jimmy Saville a *****.
Hitting a police officer in the face is more serious than grabbing hold of him isn't it. Actual bodily harm is about right but if you hit a policeman it would be deemed a worse offence due to him attempting to do his duty when you twatted him.
