So there are reports that Fabianski has got injured while playing for Poland and will be out for a while. I thought he was already injured, so was surprised to see him going to Poland for the International games. Wojciech Szczesny is now always '2 or 3' weeks away from returning and it's worryingly familiar with Wilshere's set backs. He is meant to be in some sort of protective boot but this is not working. So we are left with Mannone,Martinez and James Shea. I am still not sold on Mannone and I think at best he is a number two for us. If this situation does not improve, then for me the only solution is to go and get an experienced keeper. Someone like Mark Schwarzer, who we have been linked with before. Out of three remaining fit keepers we have, I probably rate Martinez the highest. Watched him live when we played Coventry in the League Cup and the kid has some good presence about him. He is meant to be highly rated and he could potentially do a Chensey and just take his chance if he is given it.

Anyone else worried about our current goal-keeping situation?

Over the last few years we've had injury problems leaving us short in defence, midfield and up front at different times. Now its the keepers turn with Szczesny and Fabianski who were the clear no 1 and no 2 at the start of the season. Manonne has put in a decent shift and I think has overtaken Fabianski as our no 2.

One of the things about keepers is their abilty to control the defence, which is hard to see, but tends to show in results. Our defences improvements must be partly down to Bould but having a keeper who keeps them in check will be a big plus. We wont be able to tell how much of an influence on this side Manonne has been until Szcz is back and whether they resort to previous levels of disorganisation. If he is having a big influence on the defence I would say he has to have a shout as being our no 1. His all round keeping is not as good a Szcz yet but his ability to get down to low shots in the corners is better which levels it out quite a bit. All in all I think hes a good keeper.

For me, Mannone is not good enough to be the number one keeper for a club like Arsenal. Hope I am wrong.

Im not convinced by him either. He tends to parry in a situaition he can claim and is dicy on corners. He has however good shoet stopping abilities but so do most keepers....would prefer martinez personally.

I think if we got Lloris then that's Wenger more or less saying that Chensey is not going to be the number one at Arsenal. I still rate Chensey and he is just going through a tough spell with injuries and form, but I reckon he will get through it and go on to be the keeper we all think he can be.

I reckon someone like Ali Al-Habsi would be worth a shout, or see if we could get Tim Howard from Everton. Both are experienced PL keepers, and both have a calming prescence, which could help the defence.

You are right. The only problem is Lloris is already a top class, whereas WS is still a "potential". I too hope he will be the keeper we all want him to become, but it is not guaranteed.

i personally think lloris is over rated. Good shot stopper but like mannone dicy on corners.

I'm not overly concerned, mainly because Mannone has done a good job thus far, sure, there have been some shaky moments, but nothing drastically bad overall. Plus, the more games Mannone gets, the more he will grow into the position, and the more confident and composed he will become.

I mean let's even be honest, for the first 5 games into the season, Mannone was well deserving to be ahead of Shezny, so it's not like we've got one **** back up goalkeeper in place, we have a goalkeeper in good form.

I think both are decent keepers and they are both improving. Szczensy is NoI for me and i think he will become a world class keeper.

I see it as an opportunity to evaluate our other goalkeepers at the top level. We have Norwich and QPR next I think. We should win both games.
