Hart had a good game and seems to have solved our goalkeeper problem. Yes, he made an error, but giving away a goal is part and parcel of being a keeper. Rare mistakes can result in a goal. Strikers who didn't score a second goal are equally to blame with Hart.
Can't help but feel Lallana would've been well suited for a game like that. Poor pitch, lacking a bit of a spark. Could've drawn from his lower league exploits with us.
Thought we were pretty poor. OK it was a bad pitch but in the second half we could easily have lost. Personally I think the time has come to drop some of the old guard now and build for post Brazil. We can't win the next world cup but if we blood our best youngsters now and keep them together who knows in the future.
We had better chances than Poland did, but seemed unable to convert them. Can't believe the amount of possession we let them have...too many poor passes (failure to adapt to a boggy pitch may have something to do with this). Remember Pardew's comment likening Saints to a race horse that didn't like the mud. Obviously true of England. England still a project under development...we are always good enough to qualify but never quite good enough for tournaments.
Just spotted this long-range headed goal from supposed Saints target Jeremain Lens (remember him?) that I thought some of you might enjoy:
This is my favourite goal of his. Mainly because 99% of players would stay down and take a free kick, but he has other ideas:
