They might mention 9-1, they might mention 2-1, here man, they even mentioned 1-1.

When comparing the two, the fact that their opinion of us is based on everything we take for granted, the better players, the better stadium, the better fans, the better city. It’s not being arrogant, it’s an opinion based on a passion and love for a place that makes me proud. They hate us because we love who we are, because they want what we have. That’s why I find it hard to hate, when all I feel is pity.

Spooky how close to the truth this is. The biggest nail on head for me is the about pointing out their failings. It is always met with the same response - "Cabaye (or insert Tiote, Jonas, Steven Taylor) are horrible cheating ****s and Pardew is a classless tool". It is so predictable and only highlights their inability to converse properly.

That's just my favourite though, there are so many issues nailed in one fell swoop!

I appreciate I am biased. The following comment, however, seems almost indisputably correct:

"the better players, the better stadium, the better fans, the better city"

Would anyone but a very committed red and white disagreee with that statement ?

Then again, perceptions clearly can vary considerably:

"We probably outclassed them in both the games last year but only came away with a point which was massively disappointing," Colback added.

Geordie Mr Colback has clearly spent way too long with the mackems and has now become infected with the horrible disease which is rife in the area, chiponyourshoulderitis

I disagree with parts of it, and I wouldn't be the only one?

Newcastle definitely have the better players at this time, although I feel we had the better transfer window this summer so have caught up a bit. If you look at the real quality players in each first eleven e.g Krul, Collicini, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Ba And Cisse compared to Mignolet, Sessegnon, Johnson and Fletcher it's clear Newcastle have more quality as was shown in the table last year.

Better stadium? Well both have stadiums that most teams in the PL outside the top four would be proud of. You have a bigger capacity but does that make a stadium better? They are pretty equal in my eyes.

Newcastle is a better City so I'm not arguing there.

As for the fans well first off I think both sets are a credit to their club and the passion in the North East is unrivalled anywhere else in the country. You get bigger home gates by around 7000-8000 but again does that mean better fans? All sorts of things have to be taken into consideration for example I live within distance of the Sol to go to every home game but I cannot afford it. As for away games I know we nearly always take our full allocation to games and I expect you do to although I did hear you only took 47 fans to Greece this year for a Europa match when we took more than that to Korea for pre-season. So I don't think saying Newcastle fans are better is right at all.

Point taken with respect to the fans, and apologies tendered. There are more Newcastle fans. There certainly were many more in our Champoship tour than in Sunderland', but your fans are a credit to your club. I should not have suggested otherwise.

"The derby under O’Neill last year throws up the biggest surprise, thanks in part to certain sections of their fanbase claiming that Cattermole had Tiote in his pocket. Whilst the red card to Sessegnon had an effect on the game, I’m not sure Cattermole’s 17 passes compared to Tiote’s 53 (the top passer that day) implies that someone was in someone else’s pocket, more like Cattermole showed him his pocket, Tiote decided it wasn’t for him and proceeded to kick the round thing to his team-mates."

This was my other favourite bit. Hilarious quashing of the ridiculous perspective we were treated to last year after the home derby. Maybe the view from in the skies can excuse this for those in the ground, I'm not sure about the rest. If I had a pound for every Mackem who told me that their midfield and Cattermole in particular dominated our midfield, I wouldn't be sat at work. Its nice that someone has arsed themself to finally bury these untruths. I say nice because I'm way too lazy to have gone to this effort!

Words like school, cook, marra, book, here have changed and its really gets on my tits.

The funny thing is all her pupils think she sounds Geordie

I'm sure I read somewhere Tiote attempted more passes than their entire midfield 4 or something. We did totally dominate the 2nd half against them at st james last year, missed a pen, hit the bar etc - deserved at least a point, though maybe not much more than that.

I think it'll be a hard game on Sunday, they'll set up to kill the game, good old anti-football tactics, so it'll come down to attrition not ability - fingers crossed we can nick something though.
