Very very strong taste. No had it since I were a kid. My uncles use to hunt them, skin and gut them, hang them for a while, and then cook them up in a stew.
My sister's butcher goes out and shoots them and partridges to order. It's not bad. Makes me laugh though when people say "how does your venison, partridge or rabbit taste" and the answer comes back "it's a bit gamey". Like what the **** is that supposed to mean?!
I have a fair idea where it'll be, knowing where Bealy lives. Unfortunately, I'll be kinda busy on Christmas day so won't be able to fulfill any stalking duties
Pheasant's ok, nothing special. When me and kirsten were in stravaigan i tried rook cos it was on special and it was much nicer
They live up north, out in the country. You sometimes just drive down the wee roads and there's pheasants all over the place <laugh. He also knocked down a baby deer once - by accident - and somehow it ended up dismembered in their freezer.
Not had rabbit since the 70's. Used to be the cheapest thing you could get and our local butchers always had them hanging up in the window. I am convinced rabbit stopped being sold after Watership Down but might also have been because of myxomatosis outbreaks. It's back in fashion now that ponces like Heston Bluminawful and that lisping twat Jamie Oliver have "re-discovered" it. Very strong flavour as I recall. Pheasant was lovely and so was venison. Never had hare though.
Whit's they tiny wee birds ye get in poncey restaurants? Canny mind the name of them. Taste great but **** all meat on them.
yeah my sister's in the country and roadkill is a little different to what we see in London! Mind I do have a couple of squirrels in thefreezer if anyone's interested
Aw i was watching Come Dine With Me and this maddie made pate out of squirrels she had in her freezer
i saw that one, and did she not shoot them herself infact i think the one that went out n shot them made a stew
