I disagree with this, if it wasn't for le tiss we would of been relegated years ago st marys would never of happened and liebherr would never of bought us. The only reason why cortese is at st marys is because of what le tiss did for the saints.
What did he deliver though? Not questioning his overall contribution, but I was careful to use that word.
Why do a lot of people think they have to be "for" Le Tiss or "for" Cortese? They both have played/are playing important parts in our football club.
what do you mean by deliver? He delivered survival season in season out which gave us the means to move to st marys and develop the acadamy. All i'm saying is without le tiss i'm pretty sure we'd be worse off than pompy.
I'm for both and i expect cortese is a twat but who care's he's our twat. In an ideal world tiss and cortese would be best buds but i'd rather have them feuding than not have them at all.
Well put Saint Kitch - i am also for them both. I just didnt agree with previous posts running down Le Tissier and bigging up Cortese. As you say we are lucky to have both of them but for deferent reasons. Just hope that Cortese's contribution continues as long as Le Tissier did.
I mean what did he directly provide for us? You can argue that without him we'd have been relegated and wouldn't have the things we have now (but we'll never know really what would have happened without him), but without Cortese it's a near certainty we'd have had asset strippers in charge with Le Tissier himself as a puppet chairman. We'd be in exactly the situation Coventry find themselves in. Or, we'd have gone out of business with no takeover at all, and Le Tissier's involvement actually made that outcome more likely if you believe Cortese's account of the takeover. There's no doubt he was a legend as a player, but since he hung up his boots he's been steadily eroding his reputation in the eyes of many fans and that's a great shame (not to mention the damage to the club).
Surely even Tiss can see that NC (with ML's money) has done wonders for SFC. He feels that Nicola has no feeling for Saints' past. Nicola has never pretended to be a life-long Saints fan and, therefore, has no reverence for past Saints' players. He asked for ex-players to prove they were worth the money they were getting from a club that was in financial difficulties. Fair enough I would have thought. How does MLT think that commenting on Nicola helps Saints? I have to say that I work with someone at work who has been absolutely fine with me, but someone said she is not as nice as she seems. Years later, those words hang above me when I deal with her. She is still okay with me. Statements such as 'not a very nice man' can be more damning than direct criticism. I think we must all take people as we see them without hard evidence to the contrary.
The thing that made Le Tiss go down in my books, was when he laughed as Sterling ripped into Cortese live on air. The stuff Sterling said was cringe worthy making out we should basically worship Le Tiss. His public slagging off of Cortese pisses me off as well, he just keeps on and on. He is also a cheat and has admitted this in his book first of all obviously to make as much as possible. If he really felt sorry why didn't he address the fans or something first?. Yes I thank him for what he did for us, but the end of the day he was getting paid to play football. He's not a doctor who saves lives every day and goes unnoticed and just's get on with it. Le Tiss just needs to shut up or say what it is that makes Cortese 'not a very nice human being'. In my eyes he is just doing it as he can't handle not having Saints fans putting their attention on him.
I firmly believe that without Tiss, Nic or Liebherr we would no longer be southampton football club. IMO these are the 3 most important people in our clubs history i know others will argue Bates or Mcmenemy but for me these 3 people are the reason we are where we are today. I will say one thing though long after the Liebherr Cortese rule ends we all know Tiss will still be going mental on soccer saturday when we score.
So he's a fan? So what? I am too but nobody's giving me credit for helping save the club (and why would they?) Cortese and Liebherr are club legends just like Le Tissier, and even after their rule ends, people will remember them fondly just as they do Le Tissier. This bickering has to stop, it must be like watching your parents go through a divorce or something!
The fact Le Tiss follows us and cheers us on makes him a fan, no more or no less. He just has the platform were people see his passion, this still doesn't tell you how Le Tiss is as a human.
Its all media hype so e should just try and ignore it. It's yesterdays news anyway we all know they won't be going out for dinner! I'll start worrying when Nigel is complaining about NC!
Cortese out, he's a prick and Le Tiss was good at football 10 years ago and he doesn't like Cortese so Cortese out what's he done for us nothing rarararar
I honestly don't care what Cortese is like as a person, and nor do I care what Le Tiss thinks of thinks of him. What I do care about is Le Tiss and his media mates constantly bringing this issue up in public, because it does the club no good. It puts us in a bad light. We know your views on him Le Tiss, now please just shut up. Constantly bringing it up only makes things worse IMO.
I don't suppose Nicola Cortese gives a monkey's toss what Le Tiss thinks of him. What he does care about is making sure Southampton F.C. does well as a business, and as a football club. That's really all we should worry about, and all MLT should as well.
