The Olympics went fantastically well, was expecting a disaster.

Keiron, can you still speak Irish, can you translate this for me?

In that case, you must've either watched the film/read the book first, and disliked it. Why would you then bother with the other format of the story?

England are good on home soil (1966, Euro 96 and the Olympics, for example) so we should make it our business to host more competitions here.

And as we gave the beautiful game to the world, we should have the option to host these competitons every other time. Quick show of hands, boys. Agreed, there we go then.

I think everyone thought it was going to be a disaster when we didn't win a gold in the opening five days

I really believed there'd be some terrorist incident or failing that that facilities wouldn't be ready/staff non-existent/stadiums empty.
    Medals were a bonus.

The terror threat thing was there but nobody seemed to want to talk about it. They must have locked up all the extremist nutters beforehand.

Good night for the British workforce

Of course Poland winning would have been better for them, but cheer up lads 3rd in the table all to play for

On another note its a good job Rooney's first touch has deserted him recently, he would not scored if he hadnt

I was working in Westfield Stratford over the games, they had sharp shooters on the roof of Aspers the car par park across the road and pigs with guns everywhere....
For the the first few days there were a small group of people handing out flyers wearing t shirts with team Islam written on them.... They soon disappeared though..<whistle>
    image.jpg

To be fair they weren't really causing too much annoyance, the dude with the turkey costume was protesting against eating meat ...

Yeah, they had snipers overlooking St James Park when I watched two Olympic football games there.

As for team islam, how many shiny gongs did they win?

Mo got a few for us to be fair, a great example of integration... The guy is a winner and is proud to represent his adopted country..... We need a few more like him, not the many that want everything for free and to change the community to accommodate only them...
My kids school serves only halal meat and no pork on the menu, most muslim kids sit out of nativity plays yet the parents take their kids out of school over Eid....
The Sikhs jews and Hindus don't seem to demand these special rights...

Aye, but Mo was running for Team GB not team islam.
My daughter goes to a Catholic school in Newcastle (even though she is CofE). The school were flying Union Jack pennants with the Queen on them during the summer festivities (imagine that in Northern Ireland?) We have a few Polish kids, a few Asian kids and a few black kids. There is no tension at all at the school and if it continues like that for years to come I'll be more than happy. Contrast that with the senior school which my son went to in another part of Newcastle with a different catchment area and the indigenous white kids and Bangladeshi kids ganged up against each other. Yes, kicking **** out of one another seems to be a price to pay for integration.

SN23s boring China anecdote of the day... Here in Wu Han they have a population of over 10,000000 with only 1% of the population being non Chinese....
I am yet to see a single person of colour since landing in China....
I'm not sure if this is a good thing but they have a very strong family community ,a very visible identity and a booming economy..... I have not experienced any hostility either....

So England scrape a draw in the easiest qualifying group ever conceived.

No doubt they'll just qualify for WC2014, get drawn in a group with the Scilly Isles, Greenland and Burundi, scrape through on goal difference and declare themselves favourite to lift the cup.
