Okay, you can shoot me down if I am wrong BUT 25 years ago today was the last time that QPR started the day as top of the 1st Division (Old talk for the Premier League). On that Saturday we sat proud at the top of the table before our trip to Anfield....But hey we were QPR and we were top of the table!!!! But we got beat 0-4 (Aldridge Barnes 2, Johnson) and were knocked off the top of the table, never to that day to regain the position again. How do I know...... My first daughter Sian was born that day. I went into labour at 1.00pm and I asked my hubbie to put on the radio so I could listen to the match (he hates footy!!! you may have gathered that by now). And as the pain got worse, so did the pain as we let in a penalty and then three more goals......Sian was born at 5.25pm and so I never heard the end of the match. So my daughter has never ever seen the Superhoops sit on top of the world (and to my shame she doesn't actually care) SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIAN AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY QPR Can the next 25 years be different for QPR please, but Sian just stay the way you are!
Good post Beth, I remember that game. We went up to Anfield full of hope and anticipation................and got trounced. One of the worst away games I've been to. I also remember in the early nineties ( 92 or 93 ) we played Coventry in an early season mid-week encounter in an unlikely right to top the league. Can't remember the result. Does anyone else remember the game or the result? Happy 25th birthday Sian.
Does that mean I am wrong and we went top, after beating Coventry..Don't spoil my "anti-fairy tale" story Oslo
Cheers Queens....but you are so behind the times, I think she HAD a great day . It is 20 mins to midnight here...assume it is Thursday afternoon over there
I got as far as it was 26th August and we won away at Coventry, Andrew Impey, who was taught science at school by mate John scored on stroke of half-time. But can't get any further... But Oslo, we didn't go top because of United scoring six? So my story is true???
