It has interested me how the relationship has developed with these 3 over the past couple of years and it was obvious Alonso and Lewis hated each other after 2007 to 2010. It was well known that Alonso wanted Massa to win the title in 08 and anything he could do to hinder Lewis as much as possible during the that campaign was a big possibility.

Though he says he never had a problem with Lewis during their stint together at McLaren, is Alonso just being all buddy buddy with Lewis to just get into Sebs head? "Our voices together are louder than yours alone." Or is it just typical Alonso, keep your friends close but your enemies closer etc... But until 2011 did it seem the relationship was "fixed" after Lewis had his worst season to date, did Alonso feel sorry for him that maybe he met his match in Seb and is glad Lewis knows how hard F1 can be when you don't have the best car maybe?

Alonso and Lewis never had any real interest with Seb until he won the WDC in 2010 and then BAM! we start getting quotes from both Alonso and Lewis trying to make out Seb is lesser than them because they say so and he has done nothing in a lesser car which for me just stands of underhand tactics of mental warfare against him. Seb had nothing but praise for them this year saying they're "most likely" to become the next greats in the future, though he never tried to claim he "will definitely" become one himself. I don't think he looks for that accolade like Alonso and Lewis do, but just focuses on the WDC's and other records.

2007: Alonso and Lewis hate each other, Sebs talent obvious from Fuji in the wet.

2008: Alonso would rather help Massa win the title than see Lewis win it, people start taking notice of young Seb after Monza.

2009: Seb, Alonso Lewis, going about their business. Lewis respects Seb as a future WDC, Alonso respects Lewis more with his troubled season.

2010: Alonso and Seb seem pretty well happy with each other, Lewis nothing new really with both, happy happy for Seb, sad for Alonso losing.

2011: Lewis and Alonso start jumping on the Senna + Prost bandwagon and the mind games start from there, Seb starts to become isolated.

2012: Both Alonso and Lewis are stroking each others ego's every couple of weeks, Seb is now the target of everything media wise.

So far Seb hasn't bitten the bait I believe and he hasn't attacked back in the same degree (so far), but it does seem strange that Seb doesn't treat them with the same attitude he once did before he won the WDC. Seb seems far more ruthless against these 2 on track that maybe they are getting angry they cant match it or something I don't know, but something has happend since 2010-2011 that I want your opinion on.

Did the time Lewis talk to Horner during the Canadian GP reveal something he didn't want to hear? "Sorry Lewis we don't think your good enough for this team as we feel Webber could do a better job." Maybe Seb found out what was said, Lewis may of said something negative behind his back in this conversation maybe? In Seb's shoes it would look a bit arrogant walking into somebody else's house that he worked hard on and having somebody demand the same with little effort given. Lewis and Seb are sometimes known for opening their mouths before using their brains aka: Monaco 11, Malaysia 12, twitter etc...

Alonso I believe doesn't really care about Lewis or Seb, I think he is trying to pit them together and basically ruin each others season so he can be the big winner in all this, it's like the old Chinese tale of the Ox and the rat. Lewis does all the work fighting with Seb and he just lingers behind until the finish line and in the end becomes the winner while the other two are at their throats and the process will repeat again next year. It's almost like each one of them is pulling the other across the line on the good and bad days to just beat Seb at any cost.

Seb though I believe has finally caught on with this little game, hence Monza and Suzuka reactions this year of questionable tactics from Seb. Seb isn't going for the "monkey" anymore he's going for the organ grinder as the primary target and you could say it's working as he did get into Alonso's head from Monza onwards as Seb is now leading the WDC. At Singapore you could see Alonso was already ****ting bricks, he didn't want a Seb/RBR resurgence as I reckon he knew he could handle Lewis at this point as McLaren all season have been ****e with consistency, unlike RBR which was only a matter of time getting back into the groove again.

Does anybody else have any thoughts on this situation on why it looks like Alonso and Lewis have teamed up against Seb? Have they used the famous phrase, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend!" Or has maybe Lewis got caught up in something he doesn't actually know he's already in?

    Jealousy?
Maybe Seb is better than both of them now and the reason why?
Are what Alonso and Lewis say true?
They're becoming desperate to stop him winning the WDC again?
Is that just the nature of F1?
They have been watching too many Nelson Piquet DVD's again?
It's just cool to kick the new young hotshot?
    Something else maybe?

Dude you are reading too much into this.
Seb is probably sat on his couch sipping a cuppa not giving a ****, and that is the same for the other two. You are making yourself ill with all this crap.

Silver, you are far too influenced by the ****e that comes out in the media and you've created a scenario in your head that doesn't exist which makes it look like goldfinger is now borderline god-like in your eyes as he isn't rising to the non-existent bait you are saying exists.

I think this thread is better off in the off-topic area as its so wide of the mark to be F1 related!

edit: it is all a cover as they are secretly working together as the Judean People's Front to overthrow the People's Front of Judea........

    So you think...

And how have I created something that has come out of Lewis and Alonso's mouth multiple times? If you keep talking nothing but negative things about Seb what do you think is going to happen in the opinion of fans like me?

    FINE! I'll drop it...

Are you the Judean People's Front?

**** OFF! We're the People's Front of Judea!

Nah but really, I think you're reading into this a bit much Silver. I think they all have a respect for one another being the top 3 guys in the field (IMO) and there will naturally be some mind games and whatnot, but I don't think there is any hate between them, just sayin.

You would of thought three wins in a row for Vettel would of calmed Silver down... Clearly not

    Where's the option for: "I couldn't give a damn"?

2008:It's all media produced drivel. The whole Alonso-Lewis hating each other in 2007 was manufactured by the British and Spanish press to sell papers. When that's the first point of your argument, it was only ever going to go downhill.

2009: Alonso helped Massa because he didn't want Lewis to win it? How about because it's in his contract to act in the best interests of Ferrari?

2010: To sum up what you've said, nothing happened

2011+12: Of course professional sportsmen are going to play mind games! Happens all the time in football. Wenger and Ferguson are kings of it, but nobody writes aimless articles saying they hate each other. They might not be best friends, it's hard to be in a competitive environment! But, I'm sure they have great mutual respect for each other, and the same is most likely the case here. I imagine you've paid more attention to the press coverage than any of the three drivers mentioned have.

Silver, seriously, if you want to write these kind of pieces you really should exercise some objectivity, otherwise it lacks credibility.

I think that the 2007 stuff was really Alonso vs McLaren and Hamilton happened to be on McLaren's side

I agree with Silver to a certain extent, both Alonso and Hamilton seem rather dismissive of Vettel, constantly saying the other is their biggest threat, rather than the probably soon to be triple WDC. I see it as mind games, but they're barking up the wrong tree IMO, as he's already had to put up with Webbers machinations in 2010 and, after a few weeks of letiing it get to him, came back and stuck it up him, same as he is to LH and FA this season.

To answer the article's question as directly as possible: No, I do nor believe they are "enemies". Nor do I believe any drivers (including Hamilton and Alonso) are attempting to form some dastardly alliance to scupper Him.

    I must say
, I think this sentence from the opening post is rather telling: "…we start getting quotes from both Alonso and Lewis trying to make out Seb is lesser than them because they say so and he has done nothing in a lesser car…". I have not been aware of any truth in this, your supposition, Silver, although it is very likely you may have scrutinised press releases concerning Vettel more than I have; but would you acknowledge that it it possible your interest in "Seb" (as you tend to say), may have coloured your outlook on matters concerning him, perhaps in a somewhat protective manner?

Of course, I do not know your motivation for stating such an opinion as you have – unless it is to garnish some kind of 'feel sorry for Seb' opinion amongst the membership of this forum
    – but it seems at least a little bit myopic, if not blatantly unobjective!
    - - -o0o- - -

I'd like to add that this is a friendly response. Your point of view is usually of interest and I am not attempting to make you look a fool: it's just that this time I think you've got a bit carried away!

I agree from your point of view it does look like a classic "I went a bit far" I'm just laying down my thoughts and curiosity on what I "saw" which is evidently biased like everybody else's here to a degree is. I'm looking for other people's opinion on the matter so sometimes I have to go into one extreme like this to get more variety of opinions rather than covering everything and just get people agreeing with me.
